From what I understand, the 88TC has the best motor (Primarily I believe, due to the fuel injectors. 35# vs 30#?), except that it has the worst turbo. So swap the turbo from the Merkur onto the motor from the TC and have fun!

Reliable? Man, the 2.3 EFI is one of the most reliable engines ford has ever made. You take care of it, and it will likely never die. The things around the engine may start to go, especially if it's an auto, but the engine itself may never need to be replaced.

Wouldn't you need to have some sort of adapter to attach to the Merker's T-3? The Merker T-3 outlet has the flange, whereas the IHI or SVO T-3 outlets point straight up and are made for the TMIC.

I've heard that it's nothing but a bad idea to put the dual plug head on a turbo, as it's designed for higher compression, but isn't very strong, so it would bust under boost.

Hehe, same exact thing happened to my car.

I'd say just grab a vac cap and plug it off. I think that's the line that feeds to your stock boost solenoid. When you install the boost valve, you render quite a few stock lines pointless. I think I ended up capping off about 3 points on or around the turbo.
