WTF is this noise, and why is it happening??

Yes, could be a worn lobe. Mine made a sound similar to yours with a lot more popping. I personally trashed a new Edelbrock cam in less than 90 miles. I called myself breaking it in according to Edelbrock break-in procedures only I did not use high zinc break-in oil. Edelbrock warranted the cam...

    Special tools for t5 rebuild?

Sorry to hear about that. I bought a used T5 from a fellow on ebay. Mine looks good and shifted good on the bench. I even pulled the cover to inspect the gears. They looked brand new. I went ahead and installed it in my 65 fastback. Shifting is ok on the way up through the gears but hard...

    T5 downshift problems

I bought a used 86 V8 Mustang T5 for my 65 fastback. I removed cover to inspect gears visually. Everything looked exceptionally well for a 20 year old tranny. Seems to shift OK on the bench but when installed for a road test it doesn't seem to want to downshift from 5th to 4th without first...

    T5 downshift problems

As I was driving today I did notice that I would have to come to a complete stop to shift into 1st. without grinding. I found I could hold the clutch in for several seconds and was able to shift into 1st with a little grind. The clutch is new with a cable setup. I thought I had it adjusted...

    Pivot ball stud Question

Should there be a lock washer on the pivot ball stud on a late model T5 bellhousing. I took the old one off a month or two ago and I think one was on it but I can't remember.

    Confused about bearing retainer.

Definitely going with the steel retainer. There are no holes in the case to match up to. It is just open to the case behind the bearing. Thanks

    Confused about bearing retainer.

I am in the process of replacing the worn out aluminum bearing retainer on my T5 tranny. The two tech articles that I read say to install with the narrow drain at the bottom and the wide one at the top. Problem is, the original retainer was just the opposite. I don't know if it had been...

t5 install (more questions) regarding install (pt 2)

Could it be that one of the motor mounts is busted causing the tranny AND engine to be twisted?
