    Toploaders

there were several top loaders, the big shaft was for the 390-428 big block cars, then there was the standard small block toploader, and at least 1 that had a v8 input shaft and a 6 cyl diameter output shaft that required a different yoke, there were also 2 different bellhousing bolt flanges...

Engine who makes headers for GT 40 heads

I am able to use the stock headers (creatively re-contoured) with my Gt40 heads but I would like to go to some long tubes, since plug clearance is a PITA with these heads what would you recommend?

    will a 2006 steering wheel work with a 97?

I went through some of this before, if you use a an SN97 wheel then you must use an sn97 wheel hub, same with going backwards to a fox style hub , The (as I recall) pre SN heels used a set of contacts for the horn while the SNs use a "tape" for lack of a better term. The hubs do interchange...

    Engine Rebuild or Replace

If you must drive the car then find a salvage yard engine, build it the way you want and then on a weekend, when you have time, drop it in. These engines are pretty bulletproof 115K is actually not that much.

    rear upper torque box damage

no it's not, been there, tried that, the arc remains the same, the bushings just allow for freedom of movement at rest, once the suspension moves, the upper arms still fight each other, they have to, that's the way they were designed.

    rear upper torque box damage

FWIW, if you are driving the car on the street. or wanting it to handle, you may want tot back off on the stiff upper control arms. The factory 4 link is always trying to find it's "center" (because of the upper arms coming in at two different angles and fighting each other) this leads to a...

    rear upper torque box damage

I had a friends car come apart like this, if the metal is torn in a major way, (and his was FUBAR'd beyond all recognition) you might find a wrecked car then cut that section out of it and replace yours. It just depends on the amount of damage, and then reinforce it with "battle boxes' like...

need help bad! can a bad battery cause this?

I'm glad you got it fixed, srsly, these cars are pretty bulletproof, I don't understand why you are having so much trouble. It might be that the connection has been intermittent for awhile. Heck, if it's the car in your sig, give me a call, I might beinterested

Small knicks at the end of the cylinder bore.

If you feel bad about them and think they may start a crack, carefully sand/file them out without disturbing where the rings go on the cylinder wall. Personally on a street engine, I'd find something else to do with my time. like replacing the oil galley plugs with threaded ones.

    Checking crankshaft end play

Hold on a minute! unbolt the thrust bearing cap, rock the crank back and forth, then bolt the cap on and incrementally torque it down, while you're doing that rock the crank back and forth as you tighten it. This will align the thrust bearing, you may have more play than you think.

need help bad! can a bad battery cause this?

Well, uhmmmmm low battery voltage can produce some pretty weird results, The old battery, the fact that the car set so long, combined with it receiving a large charge while you drove it to your house could have sent the battery over the edge. I was in Daytona last week and there was a major cold...
