    2.3 Driveshaft

Thanks 89stang, that's what I was starting to suspect. Just my luck there weren't any T-5 cars in the junkyard the day I went. Original shaft maybe, not original u-joints and yoke with the zirc fittings and huge balancer/damper ring. A whole shaft at the pull-a-part was less than new u-joints...

    2.3 Driveshaft

My car had a cheap aftermarket driveshaft on it when I bought it... zirc fittings in the u-joints... u-joint seals bad so it slings grease all over the place... huge balancing collar around the slip yoke... grooved yoke surface so doesn't seal in back of tranny... etc. So I went to the boneyard...

    Clutch/Flywheel Repairs and possible upgrades

A couple years ago I put a Zoom Perfection clutch in my '87 2.3. Got it at Advance for just under $100 and it included a new clutch disc, pressure plate, throwout bearing, pilot bearing, and alignment tool. I've been really happy with it. Got my flywheel turned at Pep Boys for $35. Unless...

    Got a new Stang

Wow, talk about an upgrade! That car is gorgeous! The clean, understated look is so refreshing compared to the masses of S197s with gaudy body kits out there. Does the Bullitt come with Ford Racing lowering springs? From your pics it doesn't look like it has the Skyjacker suspension that most...

Coolant Temp Guage ????? for 2.3L

I'd put in a mechanical temp gauge and be done with it. You can get a Sunpro gauge from the parts store for under $20. I have one of their mechanical oil pressure gauges in my 2.3 b/c my factory one wasn't working. I used a holesaw to drill a hole in the lower right area on my cowl where all the...

    oil pressure problem

Foxy2.3TC - before you go to the trouble of pulling off the oil pan to inspect your pump and pickup, I would install a mechanical oil pressure gauge as was previously stated. Advance sells one by Sunpro for less than $20 and it comes with everything you need to hook it up. I put one in my 2.3...

    V6 driveshaft?

Thanks for the info stykthyn. Does the V6 driveshaft have that balancing collar/weight around the yoke that slides into the T5 tailshaft housing? My 4-cyl shaft has this and I'm wondering if it's necessary or if I'd be ok swapping in a shaft without it?

    overheating problem

Before you do any of this, I should emphasize the importance of verifying that your temp gauge is reading correctly. The factory gauges in these cars are prone to lying. I used to be able to roll the power window up and down in my GT and watch the temp gauge climb... with the engine not running...

    overheating problem

As far as your fan goes, just look at it running and make sure it's spinning at a normal speed. If it is, and your voltage gauge reads normal, then the fan motor is probably fine. Those things move some air, so you should be able to put your hand behind it and feel a stiff breeze. If it doesn't...

    overheating problem

Guys, If you're overheating despite the fact that your fan is coming on, there's only a few things it can be: 1. Faulty temp gauge lying to you: verify temp readings with infrared thermometer before you spend any money on new parts. Of course if you're puking out coolant that's a good sign...

hey everyone, im new. I need to find the knock sensor, please help

Your knock sensor is on the front face of the upper intake. If you pop the hood and stand in front of the car and look at the upper intake (before it splits into individual runners), the sensor will be front and center. Very easy to access. If you think it's giving you problems, just unplug it...

    Vents cut out when accelerating

GT40 2, did you find the problem? If so what/where was it? I'm having the same problem and so far have not been able to isolate the vacuum leak other than to verify that it's somewhere behind the dash, not under the hood.

    Canister Purge Solenoid?

Are fuel injected 2.3 N/A's supposed to have a canister purge solenoid? The emissions diagram in my Hayne's manual shows one for my engine, but I don't have one. I don't see a connector for one in my wire harness either. I just have a vacuum line going from the underside of the upper intake to...

Glad you got them downloaded! I think fox mustangs through '93 are 2-digit codes, so I would go with your first set.

    steering wheel play???

Sounds like it's probably your rack. With the engine turned off, have someone turn the steering wheel back and forth while you look at the rack. If the input shaft to the rack is turning back and forth, but neither of the tie rods are moving in and out of the rack, it's bad. This same thing...

    Check engine light ''flickers''

Just check your codes... all you need is a paper clip and it only takes 2 minutes. Do a search on here and I'm sure you'll find instructions on how to do it. If not let us know and we'll explain how.

    Computer Codes

Yes, your computer very likely has codes stored. Take a paper clip and jump the upper right terminal on your large diagnostic connector (upper right as you're looking at the end of the connector) with the single terminal on the small diagnostic connector. Then turn the key to the "on" position...
