BBK cold air kit and throttle body

I am the proud owner of a new 06 GT. I have ordered a BBK cold air kit and throttle body (62 mm). The distributor advertises that no re-flash is necessary, but after reading through this forum, I am not so sure. 1). Does anyone else have experience with this mod? 2). Should I invest in a...

Aftermarket Head Unit on Mach 460

The year only makes a difference if you have 2001 and up. The radios from 94 until i think 2000, (could be 99, I'm not sure) are all the same.

Aftermarket Head Unit on Mach 460

I dont understand why so many people say it can't be done, maybe this is true in 2000 and up stangs, but on 94-2000 that have the Mach 460, it can be done, I just did this myself about 5 weeks ago. You will need an adapter, so just go to your stereo shop and say you have a whatever year...

    Amp Choices

What about getting a US Acoustics or even a SoundStream amp thats only rated at 80 watts x 2 RMS, I know that's underpowering my vipers by 20 watts, but both amps are sure to make their rated power and more. Just an idea.....any thoughts?

    Amp Choices

It seems that the sale on the US Acoustics 100 watt x 2 amp that I was going to use to power my Viper 550.2s is up, it seems they are out of stock. Does anyone know anything about Profile amps? How would it be using a Profile California CA400, rated at the same 100 watts x 2 RMS (although at...

system in a hatch (any help appreciated)

First of all, if you're running your speakers off of your headunit, the speakers are definitely not running near their full potential. If you're looking for more bass and even highs, first and easiest thing to do would be to use an amp. Find one that matches the RMS rating of your speakers and...

    quick question

Yeah it is confusing, but I still got it done. After taking the bolts out it didn't really just fall, so I wiggled it a little and it fell. I had help, so while held the board in place, the clips could be disconnected. As for the amp, well....it's just sitting there in the trunk with the wires...

    quick question

Well, I got alot done this weekend. Saturday morning I dropped the soundboard and reconnected the amp for the fronts woofers. Monday I finished my box and amp rack. I'll try to get pics up ASAP. Thanks guys for all the help.

    quick question

I had some free time today so I figured I'd just go fiddle around in the trunk. I unplugged the amp for the rear woofers, then tested to make sure it really disconnected them. I turned on my stereo to see what happened, and the rear woofers weren't playing (what I wanted to accomplish), the...

    quick question

Great, I think i'll have to go over to Wal-Mart and get that kit. As long as I keep the RCAs away from the power wire I think i'll be fine, even if the ends aren't that great. I had planned on building a custom amp rack once I have everything ready, so I could tape them if I have to and it...

    quick question

Thanks for all the good advice I think buying the 5x7s would defeat the purpose of trying to save money, but think the idea of moving the mid amp underneath a seat for the time being is a good one, I might do that all this weekend. Another thing, i'm probably going to have enough $$$ to buy...

    quick question

You're right, that is sorta a problem. I really don't want to full range the tweeters or the woofers because that would really sound terrible. Do you think running the vipers off the HU would sound any better? I know that underpowering them by that much could fry them, but I really don't want to...

    quick question

Thanks alot Actually, what I wanted to do is to to run my 460 speakers (just the front ones) off the HU, and yes it's aftermarket. I figure i'll just ditch my soundboard and the factory amps in the rear so that I get the room I need for my enclosure. Since i'm only limited to working on this on...

    quick question

Could I just rewire my front door speakers and front tweets so that they run off the headunit, making me able to take out my rear sound board and then build my custom box? I just got some Viper components and i'm dying to install them, but I can't afford an amp yet (yeah im 16, no job). This...

    Custom Box & Trunk Size

Just a question, does anyone know off the top of their head how tall of a box i can fit in my trunk w/o the Mach sound board? I'm going to ditch my stock system and not run any rear fill, so i'm hoping to build a custom enclosure in that space. Any help would be appreciated.

    What gears?

I bought my 96 gt used last August and my question is, How can I tell what kind of gears are in my car? I don't know if my rear end is stock or aftermarket, it seems like when I make fast turns my rear end comes around, which is what everybody says is a symptom of having a higher gear ratio. Is...

    CDT CL-61s or DEI Vipers?

Thanks for the links, i've been looking around caraudioforum for a few weeks and i've all but decided to go w/ the vipers, they seem to be better for the type of music i like (at least that's what i've been reading). Anyone else have any comments before I make my final decision? --All i...

    custom box

Okay this is what i did to get my measurements. First, figure out max dimensions for your width, height, and depth (how much possible space). For my 96 w/ the mach system i think the max height was 11.5", the max width was like 30 something and i limited it to 12" deep. Then get one of those...

    CDT CL-61s or DEI Vipers?

Will I notice that much of a difference (if i get the vipers) between their 5.25" driver and that of the cdts with a 6.5" woofer, SQ wise? Also, what about powering it with a US Acoustics 100x2 RMS amp?
