What The Hell Happened To This Forum?

I joined this forum so long ago I can't even remember when, and it was my 'go to' for a long time, I occasionally pop on to see if there are any good posts worth reading, but rarely post. I have noticed as well it the activity level is low. Personally I spend most of my time on another vintage...

Brakes 13" 2013 Mustang GT Brake swap in progress - pics and question

Yes I am using the 13.2" rotors available on the 2011 and up GT's. I bought the calipers and rotors as a take off set from a 2013. I used Mustang Steves brackets - which he does not advertise to work with these but they do since the difference in these vs. the early slightly smaller brakes...

Brakes 13" 2013 Mustang GT Brake swap in progress - pics and question

I did, although I didn't finish it until spring of 2015, because from the last time I posted, we had a 2 kids, moved to a new state, switched jobs, and million other things that got in the way. But, I did finish this, the Cobra rear disc brakes, and SoT strut rods all at the same time. I...

    Battery Choices....

My last Die Hard battery lasted 13 years, being discharged and recharged countless times. I am in on my 3rd red top Optima, in as many years, (they have all been replaced completely free) from what I have learned, Optima's do not take well to standard chargers and it can actually damage them...

    Engine New 66 Mustang!!!

personally unless the engine was a brand new rebuild, I would stick with a good high quality 10w-30, the zinc thing is true but I think it tends to be more of a problem on motors with new higher lift cams and heavier springs, you can always just get a zinc addative and add to regular oil as...

Brakes 13" 2013 Mustang GT Brake swap in progress - pics and question

That's what I was thinking too. I probably won't make a ton more progress for while, I need to clean and paint everything and still rebuild the other hub before actually installing it all. I will start a new thread with more photos when I get it all on.

Brakes 13" 2013 Mustang GT Brake swap in progress - pics and question

I had the day off today so I started bolting up 2013 Mustang GT rotors and calipers to my original drum spindles. I freshened up the drum hub with new bearings and seals, new and longer wheels studs, then bolted the calipers up using MustangSteves brackets. Below are pictures of the setup...

    Wheels-Tires '66 17x8 Rubbing

FYI- based on the pictures it looks like you have Coys C-5 wheels, and if that is correct they only come in 4" or 4.5" backspacing.... so that would explain some things. Yours look real deep in the pics too, so i wouldn't be surprised if they are the 4" bs.

    Wheels-Tires '66 17x8 Rubbing

I have 17x8s with 235/45 front and rear, and experience no issues in the rear, my rear fender lips are rolled though, that being said there is a lot of space where I could easily put a something wider back there. In the front, I do occasionally get some rubbing on very tight turns that...

When I built my 347 after much research and talking on the phone with Comp Cams and MSD I ended up going with the Composite gear. I haven't pulled the dist. since the install, but so far so good.

    Should I add Power Steering?

My '65 was my first car when I was 16 as well, even with the original 289 with iron heads, and stock intake and exhaust manifolds, I had no problem driving with manual steering (I was all of about 140 pounds so I certainly wasn't packing a ton of muscle to steer). It got a bit tougher when i put...

2011/12 DOHC modular 5.0 suitable for swap?

There is shop in the Chicagoland area called Speed Inc. that built and documented a '65 with a Coyote motor, as stated there is a lot of work to do on the front suspension before ever taking on the motor. The build was documented on another forum.
