Hi All...it has been a while but am trying to track down my first mustang that I sold years ago. Vin is 1FALP42X1TF102487 . Did a quick google search and see it was sold at a salvage auction in TX in Feb. I dont think it is worth it to but a car fax to run the vin and see if it was fixed and...
I am so swamped with other projects now and havent had the time/money to invest in the compressor upgrade. But my dirvers side ground effects were driving me nuts. Time and some overzealous buffing left some primer and even yellow plasctic spots showing through. As a quick fix i went to...
Here is a write up on the procedure:

I did not fix mine yet. So many other projects going on. I believe this may be the solution:

I completely agree. I am now leaning back toward trying it myself. My biggest investment would be the compressor. I would like to get by with just getting a 2 hp 60 gallon that puts out 8.3 cfm @ 40psi. I think i could get by with that. Also, I am keeping original color. Minimal body work needed...
Debating it in my head for months. Sometimes I think I'll just upgrade my compressor and do the whole thing myself, other times i am like screw it just get a pro to paint whole thing, then other times i think ill just get the bumpers and fenders painted...I doubt I am the only one on here who...
Hi, I never said I would use Maaco. But my neighbor did get nice results. I am familiar with what goes into doing the paint work myself. As I said earlier I dont know if I feel like upgrading my compressor etc to go that route. ill get some prices and debate again in my mind. On monday I hope to...
Wow, thats a steal. Good materials alone would probably cost 500. I debated even setting up my garage as a booth and getting all the tools required. I would prob need 500 in materials, new compressor (my portable wouldnt cut it), hvlp spraygun etc. I could strip the car and bring it down for a...
Yeah, I would have the whole thing re-painted but that would cost over 3k I assume. I am definitely not dumping another 3k into a car i spent 3k for last year and put 3k into already (alot of that was for a new top). The car just wouldnt be worth 9k. Except for the plastic and fenders...the...
It appears some colors started getting a clear coat applied in 1990. Then all of the colors starting with the 1991 model year were cleared. Prior to that all of the Fox bodies were painted with a single stage.
The paint on my 92gt pictured is mostly original. The bumpers and fenders were repainted at one point by a previous owner and the quality was not good. The fenders have tiny hairline cracks in paint and the bumpers are a tad darker then the rest of the car. I did alot of clay bar, buffing and...
Haha, I have seen many of those. My favorite was a gt vert for sale here a few months ago. The guy was looking for something like 5k....all it needed was paint. It was in primer, had tons of miles and from the pics a laundry list of issues. A decent paint job would cost 3k easy. The car sat on...
I have had my 92 gt vert for almost a year. I had the unlimited carfax for a month deal when I was searching. It was amazing how many were falsely advertised. Some were original 4 cyl cars, some had miles all wrong. I saw the one I eventually bought had been originally a California car. First...
I was just looking at some listings for fox body 5.0's and am amazed at the number of "low mileage" cream puffs. I am calling BS. When someone is saying the car has 26k original miles I bet it is more like 126k. My 92 gt shows 67k miles but I damn well know it is 167k miles. I wonder why ford...
Are you using underdrive pulleys? On my old sn-95 i had the frpp pulleys on. A couple times it stalled in a similar fashion. I had the radio on, wipers, lights etc. Just didnt have enough juice i assume.
Hello,
I just restored my 5.0 intake plate and had pretty good results. There is so much good info on this site and the web in general that I decided to share my experience. Hopefully this helps someone else.
Materials:
1. cardboard, pizza box, newspaper etc
2. chemical stripper
3. wire...
I found a set of blue plastic keys under the rea seat. I gues so you could make a copy for a new set if you lost the old ones. But no build sheet. That would have been sweet. My used radio is coming via ups today. Hopefully it just connects up. If not I'll just take it down to the car stereo...
