The press release info that I have read for the '05 Mustang keeps referring to the 64 Mustang with a 289 cubit motor. I don't think there was a 289 in 64. Wasn't it a 260?

Didn't realize they changed the code on the 289 4v.JimF65 said:(That's a "D" code engine.)

LOL, that looks funny to see "backup lights" listed as an option! Was there an option for bigger wheels? I seem to remember seeing some with 15's, or maybe it was 14, were 13's standard on those old Mustangs? And yes, I always remember the first Mustang being called a '65, not a 641/2!JimF65 said:Correct! I still have the bill of sale for my first Mustang, ordered on April 18, 1964. It is a 65 convertible, silversmoke grey with black top and interior, 289 4v, 4-speed, Rally Pac, backup lights, deluxe belts, etc. (That's a "D" code engine.) When Ford came out with the rest of the 65 models in the fall of 1964, they dropped the 170 and 260 engines from everything, replacing them with the 200 and the 289 respectively. They went from generator to alternator, too. They also introduced the Mustang fastback (called 2+2) at the same time.
