98 3.8 to carb 302

can it be done to not change the aod tranny? or would it be easier to get a 98 4.6 w/harness and computer for a auto.

rough parts list would be great.
just guaging this out for a friend

You might want to post this in the '94/'95 5.0 section.

You're better off doing the 302 simply because the 4.6 will require a different tranny(or at least housing). The 4r70w in your car will bolt up to a 302 but not a 4.6. That said, you'd still need a computer to control the tranny.

Just get a wreacked 5.0 or 4.6 and swap parts over. It's the cheapest and easiest way to do it.

Carb or EFI, you still need to change out the rear axle.
