Can you go wider than 225 on stock 15" wheel?

I have the turbine style 15" wheels on my 90 GT with the recommended 225/60/15 tires. Can I go wider? Like everyone else i could use the extra traction

why? Just get some 17" wheels from AFS. They're cheap.

nah, i wanna stick with 15s, i like em and just need rear tires for now. plus my money is going towards totally redoing my suspension next week

Yes you can go wider then 225's, some people put 275's on them but thats pushing it. A nice 255/50/16 would prob be good for you, are you interesed in a drag radial tire?

255's are about as wide as I'd go out back on a stock 7" wide rim. They get pretty "ballooney" beyond that and even then they look a little akward. Removal of the quad shocks might let you get up to 275's on there, but I wouldn't do it with a rim any narrower than 9" in width.
