cleaning up chrome rims

just bought a set of 18" centerlines from a guy, but they have been sitting in the guys garage for about a year and have a thick residue on them. He suggested taking them to a shop to have them professionally polished but i dont want to pay $50/rim for this, so i want to do it myself.

I have never delt with chrome before, can anyone tell me how to polish them up?

mothers polish, it is going to take a while, and you are going to ned a lot of rags.

Lot of rags, lot of chrome polish, lots of elbow grease.

50$/rim isn't bad if the residue is bad enough
