codes? help?

my car is acting up
i was driving about 55 and i noticed a (one) small surge (hick up).
then i pull up to a stop light and evry thing was fine. while i was sitting there the idle got real rough. so i went about a mile and pulled over. i let it idle and goosed it a few times. every thing was fine. a day or two later i start noticing a loss of power (not a great loss) and a miss or two while hard acceleration.

i decided to run the codes with my trusty analog volt meter and apparently im not smart enough to count the sweeps of the needle. anyone have suggestions of their own or a web site for me to check out?
