Distributor question

but I wanted to know about replacing the PIP on the distributor, how is this done and does anyone have any instructions?

I was going to get a remanufactured distributor but was told there **** cause they have the old style PIP which wears out.

Also what is the best way to test that my PIP is not working before I replace it?

Thanks I got all the info on the PIP but now I need to know what I have to mark when I take out the distributor.

This is what im thinking:

I went to
http://www.turbotbird.com/techinfo/TFI-PIP/TFI-PIP.htm

so I can see all the pieces of the distributor.

Im just trying to figure out what I have to mark

I am guessing I have to mark the following, the first picture I would mark to keep the rod and top piece in the same spot.
The second picture is where I would mark the gear to the rod???

Is that correct?
I think the pictures will help if I am doing it wrong just point out what to mark, thanks again
