Dumb Engine Plate Question

Hi All,

I decided to "custom" paint my "5.0 H.O." engine plate. Problem is, it is seriously screwed up. Most of the original paint has come off but it's also dirty and sort of corroded. I was going to try to sand it initially but decided to check with the pros first.

Anybody have any quick and easy tips of how to clean one of those plates up?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tried that on my Dremel, it didn't do squat.

Hit it with aircraft stripper, it comes in a spray can and you can get it at your local parts store. Itl will eat the paint right off and you wont have to do anything but wipe it off. Then you can give it another shot, just dont get that stuff on your hands, it burns bad.

Most of the paint is off already, I was more worried about the corrosion. Anyone know how to bring back the lustre again?

If its corroded your going to have to sand it then polish it to get that "new" look.
