Early 80's Tilt colum vs. Late 80's tilt colum

Are there any differences.........the 89 shroud i just ordered will not go on the tilt colum I received a month ago.....the guy that sold it to me the colum said it was an 89 (i'm not sure what year the darn thing is) Thanks in advance.

I have an 86 and 89 column in my garage, and by the looks of it, the 86 is ALOT smaller than the 89.
