Edit: This is for my 1987 Coupe

So I got bored over the weekend and in what seemed like the 1 hour that I had to actually go out and play in the shop I got the trunk cut out in preparation for the mini tub project. I don't want to cut away too much because I don't want to take out too much before I get the chassis somewhat reinforced. I think before I actually do the mini tub I will at the very least build and install some through-floor SFC's. Then once I have the rear out and the K off I'll build a dolly to roll the thing around on and away I'll go.

Anyway, back on topic. I've been looking around for mini tub kits and it looks like the ones I've been seeing are for hatches. Is there a difference between the hatch and coupe when it comes to the tub, other than the obvious abundance of space you get with a hatch? I'm debating on either building my own set of tubs or getting a kit, but I don't want to get a kit just to find out it won't work on a coupe. I also haven't been too successful at finding any installation threads or pictures of installing mini tubs in a coupe. Any help would be appreciated!

@Davedacarpainter had a thread for his car named Doby. He did a hell of a job rubbing that car.

Maybe he'll jump in here with some advise.
I didn't rub any part of the car:D.

Seriously though, there have been a couple guys that mini tubbed their coupes here. When I get home tonight I'll dig them up for you.

Thanks. I really appreciate it. I'm not scared to make the pieces and do it myself, but if I can get the pieces premade... my time is worth something to me, ya know. Also, the one thing I noticed about the Team Z kit is that they want you to do a Pittsburgh seam. Um... yeah... I'm an aircraft technician, not an HVAC guy. I've never done a Pittsburgh seam. I rivet or weld. I don't want this to come out looking like $hit.

I did minitubs on both the current car, and the 89 notch before that. Both times, I followed the exact same procedure, and used the existing wheel tubs. I just pushed it over an inch and a half.

Obviously, not exactly what you may want if you're gonna try and stick a 315 DR up in the quarter, but after having installed both versions, (Including a wheel tub kit that has to be cut to follow the inside of the quarter panel, and seam locked after that)I'd choose the stock, modified tub everytime for ease of install.

I also built my own double frame rail SFC's w/ an integral jacking rail welded to the pinch rail. I believe that they are far superior to a through the floor system, especially when you consider the cross section w/ regard to how wide the actual SFC becomes when you tie the pinchweld into the connector w/ diagonal, and perpendicular bars..

Awesome work on the tubs. The more I think about it the more I think I might just fab them myself. Compared to other stuff I've done it looks relatively easy. I'll notch the back of the frame because let's face it... anything behind the suspension and cage mounting points just isn't structural.

Do you have any pics of your SFC on nstallation?
