glass restoration

I want to reuse old windshield and it has some white-ish discoloration around edges, I suspect because of water. Is there any chemical that can clean this? Please help

#0000 steel wool!

it won't scratch it, but it will take ANYTHING off glass. paint, calcium deposits, anything!

I need to polish my windows because the sand here scratched the craps out of them. Seems like there is a glass polishing kit available from eastwood.

Should you use a soapy water solution w/ the wool to help prevent any scratching?

couldn't hurt, but i've never had any problems using just steel wool.

might actually help get the stuff off even more effectively

Yep, steel wool works great. Do not substitute scotchbright though because it can scratch the glass.

the white around the edges means it is delaminating buy a new one you will enjoy driving the car more looking out of a new windshield

If it is delaminating it means it is not possible to restore the glass? New windshield will not work for me at this moment. The whitish stuff seems to be not on the surface

if the whitish stuff is NOT on the outside of the glass then it IS delaminating and nothing can fix that short of a new windshield. so you can either get a new windshield or live with this one the way it is. if you still choose to use the old windshield i'd do ahead and polish it with the steel wool to make it as nice as possible
