Guages question

As some of you know, I am doing the 5.0 conversion with an aod. I want to change out the gauges to make sure I am getting all the information I need. When I changed out the gauge pod there was a good amount of rust on the outside of the gauges. Kansas car... Anyway has anyone heard of using the gauges out of 80's or 90's mustang, or some other model? I would love to just get brand new but funds are running tight, and my wife is ready to throttle me for doing the project as it is. Quote " why don't you just buy one already fixed up?!" He he he What's the fun in that? Help if you can, I am starting to rewire the dash harness as we speak and there is no time like the present. Thanks

The only other option I have seen for gauges that will actually fit is the aluminum plate someone was selling that replaced the whole gauge area and was cut to fit autometer speedo and tach and the others.

I forget where I saw that and what years it was all made for but its out there.
