Howdy, I've got a school project for which I'm going to create an online tutorial on how to rebuild the Tremec 3550 transmission. Of course I've never done one of those before so it's going to be a bit of a challenge.

What I really need help with is creating a listing of the manual transmission problems and I was hoping you guys could help me out. I need to know...

Symptom, part Affected, cause, course of repair.

So if you can help me with this I'd really appreciate it. I think I'm alright with the actual rebuild. I've downloaded a manual from Tremec and I've got a rebuild video to lead me in the right direction.

I'm rebuilding my Tremec because...

Symptom... Hard to Shift;
Part Affected... bent Shift Forks???;
Cause... something stupid that I did to it;
Course of repair... Spend a bunch of money:p

See http://www.ttcautomotive.com/English/onlineorder/product.asp to download a FREE service manual for T5 or Tremec 3550/TKO
You will need the Adobe Acrobat viewer which is also a free download – http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

See http://www.hanlonmotorsports.com/ or http://www.ddperformance.com for parts

http://www.hanlonmotorsports.com/ also has a video on how to rebuild your T5 or Tremec. It costs about $20, and is worth every penny of it.

See http://www.hanlonmotorsports.com/HanlonTIC.html for a troubleshooting chart

You might also check out http://www.mach1registry.org/forums/ . Those guys are pretty abusive on the 3550/3650 trannies. Generally it is accepted that the 3550 might in fact be stronger than the 3650 though it is suppose to have the same internals. The tko series and the 3x50 are fairly similar but the T5 is a different animal. In concept it works the same but disassembly and parts aren't very similar. When you take apart the T5 it seems like the 5th gear was an afterthought which they then added a buldging tailshaft to accomodate. 5th shifts working off the reverse lever too...
