Yes! It's really the same amount of torque, the multiplication through the transmission is different, but that doesn't matter.
Also note that temperature can make a difference as well. If you take the car out on a cold, winter day it might not ping like it would on a hot, summer day -- with all things being the same. But that's another issue.
The point is that you need to be under load to hear it.
