I bought my '67 fastback as a shell (no engine, drive train, suspension, interior) so I have been buying a lot of assorted pieces from eBay and the Mustang catalogs. I had it running yesterday so I'm making progress.
Problem:
I bought a couple of used quarter ("sail") vent assemblies on eBay. They are now cleaned up, painted and mounted. I had to cut threaded shafts (try to find originals). I also got a couple of vent boxes ("doors") on the net. They cleaned up pretty well too. It goes without saying that "used" cost $40 per and "new" are $246.95 each eek.
Now for the problem: I don't see any obvious way to mount the boxes to the vents. None of the holes and screws line up. I considered that I had (by mistake) gotten '65, 66 boxes, but NPD has the same number box for '65 thru '68. Does the box mount to an interior piece (i.e. upper quarter panel)?
Somebody who has installed this part please help me out.
Thanks,
Hipobuzz
