Question About Battery/Alternator

I would like to install my 130amp alternator from my old GT into my 93. When installed in the last GT, for the massive stereo, the alternator used a one-wire hook up and it always toasted my battery (Three battries under 6 months). The voltage guage in my cluster was pinned most of the time. Is there any way I won't toast my battery with the one-wire hook up or did I install it wrong. Thanks

Sounds to me like the regulator in teh alternator is pooched. I'm not sure if rebuild kits come with a new regulator or not
