sand blasting

I need to have a 1970 fb body sand blasted. I am in socal. Is this somthing I can do myself?? Or does any one know where to take and approx cost. thanks chris

I hope you mean Media blasted. Sand Blasting is rough on sheet metal.

Not sure about So-Cal prices. I saw an ad for a local shop up here (WI) that will disassemble and media blast a car for 5k.

i've heard as low as $1800 for blasted and primered, if you car is already disassembled.

Sup Chris, theres a place in Downey a few buildings down from Friscos.My neighbor has his 65 media blasted there a few years ago. Some of the guys "work" nights for a "special" price. I think he paid about $300 bucks and it was done overnight, but he had to pick it up before the workers got there in the morning

It will be cheaper to have it done. Kalifornia DEQ would shoot you on sight not to mention the really pissed off neighbors. The dust cloud will reach a long ways.

yup, I had mine blasted and primered for $2,000.00. That was everything, inside and out then primed w/epoxy primer. If you get busted by the THN (tree hugging nazis) blasting with dry silica sand (the only legal way to use sand is to mist water with the sand to reduce the dust) the fines will be huge and besides plastic or walnut shells is far less destructive to the car.
