Hey everyone, I've got an aluminized MAC H-pipe and I don't know if I should sand it before I spray paint it with hi temp coating or just spray it as it is? Also what grit of sandpaper should I use if I do sand it? Thanks.

i sanded my prochamber before i spray painted it. of course i bought mine used and it had lots of rust on the welds

if the pipe isn't already coated (i thought they all were?) then i would sand it before i painted it. nothing too fine or too coarse

Start out with something rough like 200 or 400 grit, then after you get the whole thing nice and scratched up and get the crap off, use 800 or 1000 grit to smooth it down a bit. If it's still too rough for you, you can bump up to 1500 grit, but that's pretty smooth for metal.
