So today I was painting my calipers and I noticed something...

I noticed that on my front driver shock/strut (I know nothing about suspension parts even though Ive done it alot) has some "oil" of fluid of some type on it right under the sleeve. It looked like it was coming out of the shock. Do this mean I need new shocks? Id like to just get a decent drop while Im at it. Any recomendations?

Yup. Busted strut there. You have tons of options here, its cheaper to get a set of struts, shocks and springs in a kit. There's tons of good brands out there, kinda depends on your budget.

If your going to lower your car around 2" I suggest to get shocks/struts for a Foxbody...struts wont lower your car...springs do that.

So basically if I go to autozone and say "I need the shocks, struts, and springs for a 93 Mustang GT." I can bolt that on and it will lower my car like 1.5 inches?

no get springs for a 94-98GT COUPE (or vert if u have one) if your going to get springs that drop in the 2" range I suggest to get foxbody Shocks & Stuts. Reason why is that they are shorter then the 94+ shocks and struts and they wont ever bottom out...make sence?

matt is right. For example, my car is lowered about 1.5" in the front and I am getting ready to drop it another inch, so I got some c/c plates and I am ordering some KYB (budget!) fox struts to compensate for the lower height.

Ok, I think i get it now. In order to drop my car, all I need are some SN95 lowering springs, but if I want to lower it more and keep 100%of the strut travel i should get foxbody stuff.

Am I right or still confused?

Ok then ill be looking for some lowering springs then. Any recomendations? Im on a slight budget but I can save up a few hundred relatively quick. I want to make my car look good once I get my rims.

Search over on the Corral classified; there seems to be springs going all the time. And I've also noticed a lot of Fox suspension parts on there so you might be able to get shocks/struts too.

For springs I'd go with HR, Eibach, Steeda (in that order) and for shocks/struts Bilsteins, Tokicos, KYBs. There's also the Bullit kit that I couple of guys on here have recently gotten from Summit for about $400. Might want to check that out. Good Luck
