My 99 V6 is my first car, and I've had it for about five years now. I've always wanted to modify it, but being a college student means I don't really have much cash to spare on my vehicle other than maintenance. All I've done is attached a fire extinguisher under the glove box and placed a cap where the cigarette lighter used to be. I just want to be able to tinker/mess with my car really.

I'm torn as to whether I should bother with performance modifications at the time being, since I'd need to invest significantly to get any real benefits out of my V6 Auto. I can't seem to find any performance parts at a reasonable price (other than used clearance items at the local mustang shop).
I've always wanted to get a set of Anthracite Bullit wheels from American Muscle, but after adding in the cost of tires, the price is too steep for me to afford ($900 or so). I thought of going to a Pick-N-Pull and seeing if I could find a set for $200 or so, but every Pick-N-Pull I go to is stripped clean of wheels.
Since I couldn't afford a set of Bullit wheels, I figured I'd paint my existing wheels. They're the sort of mushed V6 wheels as you can see above. I thought of touching them up with metallic silver (the years have worn out the original metallic silver finish), then going over them with a metallic black or dark metallic grey, using painters tape along the center of each spoke. That way I'd have a metallic silver in the middle of each spoke, then perhaps using a pre-cut circle on the center of the wheel caps to keep the pony and the area around it silver, then filling the pony in with the matching black/grey.
Any thoughts/ideas/advice?
