Hello stang brothers,

Ford has incentives for both new '07 and '06 stang GTs..

the '06 has about $3500 more incentive over the '07.

I was wondering if the '07 model is so much better improved that its worth it to get the '07?

$3500 i can save for wheels/tires/suspension....

thanks....

Go for the '06. There's only a couple of differences between the '06 and '07, the only one that comes to mind is the '07 comes with an audio input jack to connect an iPod or other device to the stereo.

I believe the audio input jack is an option, cause my 07 doesn't have it (or I just haven't found it yet). I would also go for the 06. They are no different, and you don't have to pay for 3.55's with an 06

In the 07's the traction loc rear is a $100 option, it's std in the 05-06 GT's. I assume this was a "fix" for the rear axle moan at low speed cornering. My 06 moans everytime I turn a corner, but I can live with it. Can't do without the traction though with a pegleg rear.

Um........ You're incorrect. Every GT comes with a traction lock diff. The option is the 3.55's. 07 GTs come standard with 3.31's. There is no "option" for a limited slip diff in a GT.

The 07 GT comes with the 3.31 standard. 3.55s are a $100 option. When I was at the same point in the decision making process as you currently are it came down to the fact that I was getting a convertible and the 07 offered two things that the 06 did not; a cloth top and sirius radio. I was also after a certain color (redfire clearcoat) and none of the dealers could find an 06 in that with a 5-speed with everything else that I wanted. My thoughts are that if you can find a new 06 that is equipped the way you want it, you should be able to drive a really hard bargain, given that we're almost 5 months into the 07 model year.

 Well son, reason I posted that was the Ford site used to specify what the std axle ratio and differential was, it now only tells you the traction loc 3.55's are now an option. And after reading about the complaints about noisy traction loc rears in them, I assumed Ford dropped the posi as std equipment. That would be a logical assumption, even if incorrect.

^ Thats what I was just thinking :rlaugh: .

Im sorry but PAYING to go see a moving with lines like "Autobots GO!!!! The disepticons (sp LOL) are stealing credit card numbers over the internet!" is pretty funny LOL.

But back OT, I say GET THE 06! Those cheap options/differences are not worth $3500 IMO...definatly put that towrds a supercharger :nice: . Sure rims/tires would make it look better...but fancy wheels wont make you any faster in the 1/4. Assuming your like most who want huge 19-20 inch rims.

If cost is a primary driver, go with the 2006.
If you want a better car, go with the 2007.

In addition to the cooling system changes, you also get a different body/chassis (designed to fit the 5.4 4V in the GT500), and others have noted better handling and ride quality from the chassis improvements designed to handle the 500 hp from the GT500. You also get a tire pressure monitoring system with the 2007.

I believe you can still order 2007s until May of 2008 according to kc at TMS. You may want to even wait for the 2008 MY to see what SEs they have (Bullitt? Boss??)
