so... I like the look of my rims and I think I want to keep them rather then get new ones (for the time being) but....

I want the wider rear look. Like the 10.5's give. To those who have spacers on the rear, what size do you get to have the rear wheels sit out to a normal size (like just inside the fender lip)? I don't feel like going outside and measuring in -25 weather...

Also where is a decent place to get them for a 1/2 decent price? ebay cheapo's are okay or are they garbage?

thanks in advance

you DO NOT want to cheap out on wheel spacers

i have MM 1/4 spacers (made specifically for Mustangs) in the rear because i didn't want to go through the hassle of longer wheel studs, BUT if i were to do it again i would have gone 1/2 inch in the rear

i got mine from stangsuspension.com

Ditto on quality HUBCENTRIC spacers. Don't go with the stud-centric which are basically slip on washers. Also, they make a nice DD style 03 rear rim now, so you could keep your fronts, have spare fronts/winter rears, and get a nice staggered look.

thanks for the responses.

First off, I didn't want to cheap out. Thats why I was aking to see if the cheap ones were infact "cheap" or just cost less because of mass production or something.

I also was going to get the hubcentric ones as well. but thanks for the recomendation.

So the MM 1/2" ones are the only spoken ones so far.

And as far as the DD 03/04 cobras.... I think they would look too different then the 99-01 cobras for me to pull off.

I have 10.5" dd 03 Cobras on the rear of my 95 & I think I still need about a 1/2" spacer to make the wheels sit flush (narrow 94-98 rearend). I think since your wheels are only 17X8, I would at least go with a 1/2" or maybe more? Plus arent the IRS rearends a tad narrower than the 99-04 Solid axle? BTW, 99-04 solid axles are 3/4" wider on each side than the 94-98's.

If u do get spacers, definitely go with the quality MM spacers...I think some of the ones they sell are manufactured by Eibach....

I put 1.25" spacers on my '01 Cobra. Here's some pics. It's in the garage now getting it's H&R Sports put on so no comments on the 4x4 look :)

+1 for the don't go cheap.

bla bla bla I got hubcentrics 1.5" off ebay for $75 or so and no problems yet. unless your going to unleash an insane amount of horsepower you have nothing to worry about.

gotta go find a chair to hide under now....:D

well, you won't have any problems until you do  horsepower doesn't have much to do with bearings wearing out prematurely or shock or tire issues ;)

me, I think there are some places to skimp and some places to only get the best...I'd highly recommend H&R spacers

i did alot of research here before buying them and the only problems with cheaper ones is with a **** ton of hp the bolts could break. I don't buy the wheelspacers making any differences in wear and tear of bearings and such since they are hubcentric. if they were not hubcentric then yes thats where the difference in wear and tear would come in. other wise it doesn't matter if its cheap or not if it moves the wheel out 1 inch then an expensive one will still have the same wear and tear issues as a cheaper 1".

1" is 1" no matter what

It's not all about the lugs and I said the same thing when I bought mine and here's what happened.

I bought the cheap ones and they were hubcentric but the centers where it met my axle was a couple thousanths to small and wouldn't go on the axle so I had to carefully and equally remove that metal by hand. It took a couple of hours. On the other side where it met the wheel, it was to small, so the wheel has movement on the hub essentially making it lugcentric.

I think you're wrong on this one and I wouldn't buy the cheap ones again. It's not all about the strength of the metal or the lugs as noted above.

I have 1.5" spacers in the rear and left the front alone. IMO it looks perfect and if you look at the wheel from the top, it is completely flush with the fender. I would not buy anything less than 1", if your wheels are 9 inches or narrower.

For all of you recommending hubcentric spacers, why would you not buy lugcentrics? Lugcentrics cost more, and it comes with extended lugs, so shouldn't they be 'safer'?

Now, the hubcentrics are going to stay in place, secure, and balanced. The lugcentrics are could potentially shift, making the rotational mass off center, which could lead to vibrations, which could loosen things, which can lead to catastrophic failure. Basically, the right way, and the cheap way. And always remember, you get what you pay for. When it's your ass in the seat, you better be sure your rolling gear is top notch!
