JME 69 mustang gauge cluster

That looks great. I really like the contours of the standard dash. The plus w/ the Year One dash is you can get 6 gauges in but it's nice to have the 2 5/8" gauges. The additional gauges could be placed below the radio where the ash tray is or an A pilar pod if they make them for '69/70s.

On a side note, what do you think a deluxe woodgrain instrument cluster (no tach) and passenger side w/ clock is worth? Clock works but doesn't keep good time.

Not real sure what they would be worth.

I swapped out the boring stock cluster on my 65 and made my own 6-gauge cluster using an aftermarket bezel and autometer cobalt gauges. very pricey, around a thousand bucks including the pillar gauges, but they look awesome and they're all electrical which makes calibration a breeze. I get nothing but compliments on them when driving at night.

We just installed the Year One with Ultra Lites in our '69. It doesn't say in their catalog nor does it really show, but there are no provisions for turn signals, high beam indicator, or brake (or other) warning lights. Also, it is built to fit '69, '70 needs fitting to line up (they aren't the same). The top needs to be pushed forward about 1/2-3/4" to see the tops of the lower 2" gauges. Overall, we are digging it.

I am using a blue LED for the high-beam, green LEDs for the turn signals (but then I have these on the hood scoop anyway) and a red LED for the idiot light. Got everything from radio shack. These are threaded on the opposite side so you can fit them through the gauge cluster and affix them with a nut. My mechanic says he can put the green leds behind the speedo and tach so that when the lights are on and the turn signals activated, you will see a blinking green light behind the gauge.

Jerry: That sounds cool! Can he make the brights indicator look like a running horse? lol

Ksmith: Take any pics?

I can! I was planning to make my turn signals horses running right or left, just as easy to make extras. I'll post pics when i get something drawn up.

I got my dash last night. I am disappointed that it is not textured. I plan to leave it black but will need to paint and texture it first.

No pics yet, we just got it buttoned up Tuesday and I have been working . I will get some up soon. we will be at Silver Springs for NPD's roundup this weekend, winter blue '69 hardtop. Speaking of '69-'70 dash stuff, anybody with missing or damaged trim pieces on the outer edge, Virginia Mustang offer good quality repops for $16 a pair.

We also were a little disappointed that the cluster wasn't textured, but the satin finish isn't bad with the gauges installed. We made housings and lenses for the signals and such on ours to use bulbs so we have some control over the brightness, LEDs are just a bit too bright for our liking. We'd be tickled if the vendor making the cluster would offer a matching piece for the passenger side.....

I agree that it would be nice to have a matching piece on the pass side. I think I will wind up using a standard instrument bezel and installing Auto Meter gauges in it and also a matching passenger panel. I've been thinking about painting the panels silver. Not sure though. I may paint one and see how it looks. Worst case I can paint it black again. Hopefully I can get enough $ for my deluxe panels to help w/ some costs.

I agree to, PS needs a mate!

I was disappointed not to find many pics on Year ones site before I bought mine. So, for future buyers here it is right out of the box.

Not yet, I was thinking the new Phantom II's. My car is black with white interior, thought it woudl be fitting.

What ohm fuel gauge works with the origional sending unit??

Looks like it's 73 ohm empty, 8-12 ohm full assuming this is the one you're looking at:

Phantom @ Must +:
Mustangs Plus*::*Electrical*::*Autometer Gauges*::*Phantom Series*::*Autometer Phantom 2-1/16" Electrical Fuel Gauge

Phantom II @ Summit:
Auto Meter 7515 - Auto Meter Phantom II Analog Gauges - summitracing.com

BTW, I think the white faced gauges in a black dash w/ white interior will look awesome! Add some pics when you have your gauges in. Good luck!

It is symetric (close anyway). The light in the room i took the picture in must have caused the shadow to look a little funky, it does have a "bend point" if you will in the gauge face.

Actually, the pictures taken by two different people and two different bezels show the same thing--the top of the bezel shows a gradually declining line where the screws go into the dash pad.

From the left, the edge of the bezel to the face is a longer distance on the left than it is on the right.

It's definitely not symmetrical, based on that--like I said, it appears to be tilting toward the left.

Take a look at the line I'm describing . . .

that's because the originals are that way as well. it's to make the gauges more visible to the driver by slightly canting them. don't worry it's correct.

Here is a pic of my gauge cluster with the electric autometers in it. Installation soon to follow

Instead of LEDs for turn signals and high beam, I am thinking about fiber optic cables. We can make a loop (in the gauge, behind the gauge, anywhere really) like this.
