25th anniversary

Never heard of stripes either but....
I remember my buddy saying his 89 LX 25th had different heads...something a little better than the regular stock heads? Not sure about this. Maybe someone else can confirm/clarify. He did a gas door release button in the glove compartment. Both mine (90GT) and his (89LX) had the 25th Anniversary running pony emblem on the dash.

There is nothing special about 25 years.

All mustangs made from April 17th 1989 to April 17, 1990 got the little "25 years" dash plaque. After April of 1990, the plaque was left blank but remained.

Ford never did a thing to make an actual anniversary car. Anything out there was a dealer package or something put together by aftermarket companies, like the saleen ssc car was.

Nothing special about a 25 years car other than the $15 dash emblem. There are no anniversary cars. All the emblem says is "25 years"....nothing else

The gas door release was an 87-89 feature that disappeared on the 1990 models

i remember 25thmustangs car used to have stripes on it that said 25th anniversary on them that ran down the door. they couldve been aftermarket, but i have seen a few cars just like it on craigslist, so idk. maybe a few dealerships did the stripe thing or maybe theyre all just aftermarket. i didnt do any research or anything so i guess mustang5l5 must be correct.

His was a dealership special. Iirc it was a big dealer too, so quite a few are out there like that. I have seen three online

My '86 has a factory remote gas door release, FWIW.

But yea, guys, what Mike says is truth. 25th cars were nothing special.

I DID read the other day that the GT40 engine parts (heads/intake) were originally developed for a planned special 25th anniversary model that never never came to be, so the parts eventually found their way into the '93 Cobra and the Motorsports catalog. Now I can't remember where I read that, so I have NO idea if it's true or not, but it's interesting, anyway.

I don't know too much about the 79-86 cars in terms of available options, so i try not to speak too much about them. But 87+ i know well

Roush put together a twin turbo 351 '89 GT they tried to push ford for as an anniversary model. Unfortunately Ford didn't want it. If you guys ever see pics of it...it's a cool car. Only 1 made. Red 89 GT with a 351 and two turbos :)

Ha, nobody does. It's hard to find information on them, believe me, I know. :p

I'm googling it now. :nice:
