What do you guys think? If i put it on i won't get into the boost, i'd properly break it in...would that hurt it? The main reason i ask is because people say that the 750 carb is too big for just the engine alone.....what should i do?

I would wait until you broke the engine in....Or if you know what your doing, which im sure you do, just don't go into the boost at all or very little. Whatever you decide its your engine and stang. But goodluck to whatever you decide.

Put it on and boost ASAP. Everyone told me a blower would kill my high mileage motor. I'm well into the 200,000+ range. The sig below is this very motor.
I dont thing you can hurt it. People buy those blocks to go racing with. They are broken in while making there first passes down the track. Also I saw a car with a brand new 347 actually a 349 though, slapped on some TFS high ports and a vortech bower,.....572RWHP, he reved the hell out of this thing on the first run. That thing was just completed. Maybe he was crazy, but he got that idea that that was OK somewhere?

It's up to you, the 750 is too large for max power, but you'll just be breaking it in. If it were me, I would put it on now and spend the time tuning the part throttle drivability.

Hold up....If your blower runs off the engine oil WAIT to put it on, I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier, break in about 500 miles, change the oil, then change the oil again around 1500. Don't swap to synthetic(if you plan on doing so) until 5k. After the first oil change start leaning more n more on the motor, after 1500 shes ready to rip. I wouldn't put the blower on till after the 1500 mile change. All sorts of particles floating around from the new motor. It may not hurt anything, but then again it might....not worth the risk IMO.

Are you using an Edelbrock carb on your blowthrough setup, are you insane? Also, DO NOT hook up your blower until you break in the engine or youll screw up your rings. Wait 500 miles and youll be good. But your already screwed for using that edelbrock carb.

Why man why??? It seems like i'm always doing something wrong...Whats wrong with my edelbrock carb? it looks like a good carb to me..I know i have to buy new floats and mill off the choke horns and all this....but other than that whats the problem???

Edelbrocks cant be set up for blowthrough applications and Ive never seen solid floats for those things. They also cant be dialed in like a Holley and thats why you only see Holleys on race engines. They also dont have the venturi design to be used for this application, and its going to be a lot harder to mill the horn. You will be the first person to ever use this carb. I think its funny how you keep doing the exact opposite of what I tell you even though I've already done what you are doing.

I understand what you are saying about it only drawing what it needs but that only works to an extent and with vacuum secondaries. A mechanical secondary, which is mandatory to run on a blowthrough application, will open up no matter what and put as much gas as it wants into the engine whether it wants it or not. Thats why they make extensive books that go into how to properly tune a carb. You cant just throw a carb on an engine and have it run well. If he threw a 750 Holley DP on that engine and floored it, hed kill the engine. You need to jet a carb, set the actuation points for all 5 circuits, and a carb that is too large, will make no power on the bottom end. Its more complex than people thing and for most street driven SBF's, a 650 is the largest youd want to go. I have an aluminum headed 342 with a 17 lb procharger, and my 700 DP is a little large. You cant just take any carb and jet it down and ask Holley if you dont believe me.

Sorry, Mr. Carbeurator. I guess i'll just throw the Edelbrock out in the street somewhere and go out and spend 400+dollars that i don't have on the Holley, and delay my car from getting done even longer. I'm very impatient, and i'm starting to get pissed off... :bang: ....Man i've been driving a 4 cyl honda since the beginning of may....and if you knew me, you would know that i almost kill the damn thing cause i'm used to my mustang....i feel sorry for that honda, it gets the crap kicked out of it. anyway.......my point is, I DON'T HAVE ANY MORE MONEY. i got that Edelbrock carb for under $200 dollars. The last time i checked that was a good deal. I just shelled out $7000 in two weeks on parts, and i still need even more. (Holley carbeurator)...I'm about to lose it..... :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:

First off you only saved about 40 dollars on your edelbrock carb because they go for about 240 250 in summit. Also, 200 bucks would have gotten you like 2 holleys on Ebay, and the rebuild kits are only like 30 or 40 bucks. I'm sorry man, but Ive been telling you from the beginning which carb you needed. There's a reason why nobody has ever used an Edelbrock on a blowthrough. Return the carb or sell it, and buy a used Holley from ebay and rebuild it. It is sooooooooooo easy to do.

No, you are suppose to get a DP since you cant run a vacuum secondary carb. Your only option is a 650 to 700 mechanical sec. Holley. Id say 650 since you arent pushing a lot of boost, you wont be revving much past 6000 rpms, and youll be driving on the street. Check on Ebay or they only run 325 new from Summit. Its a standard 4150 series you need. The 650 DP is part number 4777, so look for those numbers when shopping on Ebay. Besides, even if you could use an Edelbrock youll be much happier with a Holley because the parts you can get for them are unlimited, and they can be fully tuned which you cant do with an edelbrock.
