Get yourself a 2x4. drill 16 holes into it, paired together, label the 2x4 front and back. remove the lifters and drop them into the holes....or..bags labeled #1cylinder intake...#4 cylinder exhuast...ect ect..masking tape with labels on the lifter itself?? so many ways..

Im assuming your rebuilding the motor, if you dont know, when u remove the lifter, it will have an oil passage(a small hole on one side) that faces the lifter valley(inward). The block has an oil passage running through there and the lifter must be installed the same way, or you will burn it up due to lack of lubrication. Compende?

Autozone has em as well as Pep Boys.

I beleive i got mine from Pep Boys for $50. I beleive it's a 750 pound stand. It's been holding the engine of my '85GT with no problem

do u guys recommend bolting on the heads with teh block on the stand...or waiting for the block to be in the car???? i mean i gotta reach the tranny to motor bolts way in the back there..didn tknow if there would be room

ahh alright i gotcha...couple other quesitons..i got an AOD..and my torque converter is like starnig right at me now that my engine is out..should i tie a bungee across the open bellhousing or anything to make sure it dosent fall out???ive been told u should do that..
annndddd..um...what else...oh since my block is out...all thats left in the engine bay is la ****load of wires and hoses...and my red paint which u can HARDLY see its so grimy lol
WHAT do u reccomend cleaning , shining and getting everythign all clean and nice in there with?

I got mine at some stupid "Made in China" crappy tools outlet for $60 CAD, it has been holding up my engine pretty well. Canadian Tire also has some for cheap so Pep Boys? should have some.

Lifters: I used an egg packaging thing made of styrofoam. And for the pushrods, you can use a styrofoam block. :)

for the paint thing, i have used dishwashing soap. using a brush, it gets all the grease off (thats what its made for, right). i did that before i painted the engine bay on another car. a pressure washer works well for the initial stuff if you got one.
have fun.
