Correct way to adjust valves?

I've got a set of stud mount harland sharp rr's. I floated the valves a while back and since I'm using chromoly pushrods the rockers were knocked out of adjustment instead of bending the pushrods. I've took all the pushrods out and checked them just in case and put them back in and set the rockers on too. I'm wondering what's the best way to adjust them. I'm thinking of turning the motor over by hand and setting them at 1/4 of a turn past 0 lash. Does this sound right? Am I on the right track or am I way off? I was going to get the shop that put the motor together to adjust them, but they are backed up for a few weeks so I figured I would try it myself.

thanks

haven't ever seen rockers go out of alignment from floating valves. usually bent pushrods or bent valves. so if pushrods are ok then may be the valves that caused the adjustment to be off.
