turn signals don't flash

Recently I inspected, cleaned and lubed my speedo cable, disassembling the dash, carefully removing the instrument cluster as is necessary to perform this operation.
I reinstalled everything carefully and it all works great, including the lights, except my turn signal flashers don't flash.
I checked the fuse and it's fine. The underdash turn signal flasher in my special service '93 5.0 coupe appears to be different than the flasher shown in the '91 factory service manual I'm using.
Do any of you out there have some solid suggestions based on first hand experience?
I would appreciate any help.

Thank you,

I had this happen to me once. Checked the fuse, it was fine. Swapped the flasher unit from my 88 over to my 93, still not working. It turned out to be that my hazard light switch was accidentaly pushed about halfway between the on and off position. This made the blinkers not work....Worth checking out :nice: I couldn't believe that something like that made the turn signals not work....but hey, we learn something every day.

turn signal flasher

The mulit function switch could be bad.. Do your high beams work? high beams and turn signals work on same circuit in the multi function switch and the wipers work on the other circuit

hi-beams, lo-beams, parking lights, hazard flashers, everything works perfectly but the turn signal flashers.
thanks.

same problem-

Funny, but I'm having this same problem as well. Hazards work, high beams work, but no flashing whatsoever on the dash or exterior.

i'll let you know what the solution is once i figure it out.
you let me know if you figure it out first.
thank you, and best of luck.

coincidence?

No flash usually indicates a bad blinker relay or a dead blinker bulb.

You sure it's not just a coincidence?

could be a coincidence but-
everything (but the speedo cable) was working perfectly before i disassembled.
thanks.

i solved it.

the turn signal flasher was the problem. on my '93, it's above the glove box.
dumb simple to access.
on earlier fox bodies it's above the fuse panel.
i borrowed the hazard flasher from the fuse panel and tried it on my turn
signal receptacle and it worked. they simply unplug (two prong plugs).
note: if this is your problem, replace the flasher with a turn signal flasher, not a hazard flasher.
best.

i am having the same problem, my 89 mustang, the turn signals aren't working. I checked the bulbs, the fuse box under the steering wheel all good, replaced both flashers, replaced the actual assembly on the console. Hazards are working perfectly. No clue, any help?

Figured mine out the wire cluster under the steering column has a pretty big connection under there and the clip that holds the connection was broke, so the connection wasn't making connection. Here are the pics, a simple zip tie holds the connection together now.

you probably did the same thing i did when i replaced my speedo cable.one of the wires had pulled out of the hazard switch on the dash and everything worked except the signal lights.you'll find this is a very common problem amoung stangs if you search the threads.

Okay my 1991 5.0 lx turn signals dont work, sometimes..... i have been dealing with this for a couple months,,, but i didnt even realize its not just my turn signals, its my ac/ heat, defroster, vents, when one isnt working; they all arent working. ill be driving without them then all of a sudden they will all magically start working together,,,, ive tried fuses, ive replaced the flasher relay too... it sucks because i dont want to be pulled over AGAIN, CAN ANYONE HELP ME

It's a loose wire somewhere.
Since it's all going out at the same time, you know it's early in the circuit that the problem is happening.
Get the ford wiring diagram for your car.

This is likely an ignition switch not coming back all the way to the “run” position. If so, You’ll find your reverse lights don’t work as well. When you have issues, turn your key back slightly toward the off position. If things come back on, it’s the switch... a $20 fix.
