I've been hearing that a replacement K & N filter is not as good as it is supposed to be. It supposedly does not filter as well as the paper filter and clogs up the MAF; even when it is not heavily oiled. Has anyone that has or used to run a K&N have any evidence to this. Either for or against? I run one in my '99 and am wondering now.

i have used k&n filter for years on Mustangs and F-series trucks with no problems at all. It has been proven many times that these filter will outflow any paper filter. weither or not you really fell any performance gain from the filter depends on what type of mods you have on your engine. the more air your engine can suck in the more a free flowing filter will help. From my experience it is smart to lightly oil and let sit overnight before using. hope this helps!

I heard this off of one of the ls1.com forums. I guess the chebby boys are having problems with their K&N's. I don't know whehter it is becuase of the flat design on the LS1 or what it is.

I also heard it in an issue of 5.0 magazine. I think the K&N gave my car a little bit more in pick-up, also it seems to breath a lot better. The only concern I have is that it doesn't start as quick as it used to with the paper filter. Has anyone else had this problem too or noticed it. It's not really anythink to worry about just something that I've noticed. I might get the computer re-flashed by the dealer this spring once it comes out. Maybe that will fix it.
