How many people have broken their stock rears on DR's?

Too funny..well now it is...Just saw this thread and thought I would add my name to the list....Snapped the drivers side axle this past weekend..Only the 3rd pass ever on the DR's. Anyone else want to chime in? I've noticed lots of posts on this subject lately.

my .02. I would just set the rearend money asside if you start racing. I mean you have to pretty much replace everything anyway. setup the rearend the whole nine. you may as well run the stock **** unitl it lets go. It would be diffenent if there were stock parts that were reuseable.

now if you were doing a gearswap anyway it would be a good time to just yard everthing out. I may do that. not sure yet. if I do my gears myself just put the money i saved towards a carier axels etc. otherwise I say shatter that motherf*@Ker first. then upgrade.

So if I build my rear end up with 31 spline Mosers, a 31 spline eaton dif, will my rear end be able to handle slicks for a long time, or just ever? Just curious, because I would also like to get it right the first time :)

I run 26x11.5x15 inch M/T et streets and net 1.77 60s all the time! I have a completely stock 97 rear end with 3.55s and about 350hp. I heard that the axles from the 96-98s are stronger than the new ones. I havent had any problems and she takes off hard! I usually dump the clutch from 4500prms.

Add me to the list as well. 4500 RPM hole shot with 275 / 40 / 17 BFG DRs and both axles snapped simultaneously. This was probably my 15th pass or so on DRs. I had no problems hooking up with pressure at 14 psi. My stang got home just like Just Some Guy got his car home. The carrier was also damaged in the process as the axles broke at the splines and ripped the connection points apart. Looking back, I think the upgraded UCAs and LCAs and Aluminum DS contributed to this as the axles were now definitely the weak spot. I almost forgot to mention the 4.10s . . .

What does it feel like? Light went green, BOOM, and no go . . . track personnel had to push me off the starting line. I replaced with 31 spline Strange axles and Auburn Pro carrier but am not going back out until I get the torque boxes welded up.
