I swear your cracking me up...I'm getting flashbacks... :rlaugh:

The following are known as "free mods" - 13*timing, smog delete but to you their bolt-ons...lol...

The following aren't even a bolt-on...(I guess they are to you) - subframes and springs...373's...thats not a bolt-on... :rlaugh:

I never said Keirstand would side with me...I was pointing out the driver-traction idea...you catch on quick...

The problem with your post is that you bench race to much...you go with what every one says and not what you have witnessed or done...you've been to the track what??? twice...and your times show it...my car was automatic before and I got a 13.9 minus the pullies...and it had 135,000 miles on it... :D And that was with no torque convertor...sounds like you got a handle on your car... :rlaugh:

Quit bench racing and oh yeah take it to the PM's...

"College boy" and proud of it :flag:
13.9??? YEAH OK  Its a vert rite :rlaugh:

You will have a nasty hull in your fuel curve man! We can retune the NAWZ port injection and you will run 9's..............HHAHAHA.........I hate that movie......anyways theres only one way to find out what it will really run. Once you find out come report back to us.

You have 100,000 less miles than I have and more mods and you still only got a 14.3 @96 :rlaugh: :rlaugh: :rlaugh: an nope its a good ole hatch :nice:

Willys1 - better known as the "bench racer" :hail2: :hail2: :hail2:

Mid 12's with driver and traction...I guess Lil' Wil' thinks a vert is a land yacht  @ 150 pounds more.... :D :D :D

Lil' Wil' - my PM's are always open :nice: oh and instead of having shops put in your parts...how bout try to do it on your own...DID YOU MAKE THAT APPOINTMENT TO HAVE YOUR K&N FILTER INSTALLED

saltymaz - I would make a separate thread about the "slider motor"...I'm sure someone knows...I personally don't...

5spd GT: I have been reading the battle between you and Willys1 and I find it retardedly funny...Anyways I have both a 91GT vert and a 91LX both 5-speeds and the VERT is like a land yacht...sure the car is fast with my motor, however, if I had that same motor in my LX I can gurantee you the LX would be .5 faseter than my vert...I don't know where you got the 150lbs that a vert is heavier than a hard top but I always thought it was along the lines of 250-300lbs as according to my research...(however, that also was for a vert with an AOD since I use to have one in there) so let's just say 200lbs more...Traction and good driver are a must in what determines the best ET's,however, given equeal drivers and conditions I still say a vert will be .5 slower...just look at the stock vs stock ET times...the average of a vert is about 15.2 and an average for a hard top is like 14.7...hence with an identical setup on a modded motor the results should be the same right? AND please NEVER compare a 5 speed to an AOD EVEN to an AOD with a shift kit, stall converter, and a bigger servo because I HAD THAT BEFORE and the car still was slower than a 5-speed...due to the planetary gear ratio setup in the tranny...

"Not to be rude here"...but first you didn't read the past post very well...I did put "150-200" pounds in an earlier post but have just stuck with a 150...

Another thing...I WASN'T comparing a 5spd vs. a stalled, shift kit, blah blah car...I was giving him the times of when mine was an auto (HAS BEEN CONVERTED)...so I will compare...and read the post again and it will now make sense...

So again I say he had more mods, 100,000 less miles and I still ran .4 faster than he did: auto vs. auto...

"Battle" huh????...ha ha ...I do to find this retardedly funny :rlaugh:

A friend of mine has a 92 auto, vert and weighed in at 3580...and that is a difference of 180 lbs to my car...and the car we weighed was an auto...and the car (original poster) in question is a 5spd which is a bit lighter which would bring it down to 150lb difference...and now that does not make it .5 seconds slower...

You put equal drivers in a vert and hatch (same everything and it will not be that far apart)...yes it will be slower by a few tenths but not a half a second...

Remember the general rule: 10 hp = 1/10th and 100lbs = 1/10th...

so 150lbs does not even come close to .5 seconds...

Remember where not comparing an unoptioned 5spd notch vs. an autoed vert with options...

We are comparing a 5spd Gt vert to an equally "powered" 5spd Gt "hardtop"(that could run low 12's all day with those mods)...that vert is not going to make it .5 to .8 seconds slower...hence (mid 12's vs. low 13's)...

Well my bad if I didn't pick out ALL the facts out of the posts filled with flame fest...Any ways...what I did base my opinion on is stock vs stock...a stock GT vert 5-speed runs about 15.2...that can't be too far from the truth...and a stock 5 speed hard top will run about 14.7...so here is the .5 difference I was referring to...no matter much you mod both cars with equal performance parts and equal drivers the times still should be the same as an end result...right? The only proof I have for this would be www.car-stats.com where there is a time recorded for a 93 vert auto that runs a 16.1 and a 92LX that runs a 14.8 5-speed and a 91GT ran a 15.3 with a 5-speed...but you get my point...hopefully...The rule of thumb is just that...a not precise rule...that may not apply to ALL...I still say a vert will run .5 slower than a hardtop...given equal conditions and mods/drivers...due to weight...

first of all the car is not only a vert, but it is a GT, not a light LX like you have
The motor is not full roller, he keeps saying it is a slider motor which will have more friction than a full roller which comes out to be less power. He never said if the car was a stick or auto. He just said a hurst shifter, is it a hurt short throw or hurst quarter stick? The vert alone will be about 200 lbs heaver, then the GT kit will be another 100 give or take a few. My 93 LX weighed in at 3050 w/ a full tank of gas without me in it, there is definatley a weight disadvantage there. 5sp GT, you are comparing your Roller LX hatch to a Slider GT Vert, of course there is going to be a difference. Some people who have freak cars soon realize that they dont gain as much when they add heads, cam, intake, etc.. I still say this car will run low 13's w/ traction

my 87 GT vert has 5 speed, stock bottom end with 130k on it, crane 1.7 roller rockers, thumpers ported e7te heads, stock valves with 5 angle, unported cobra intake,65mm tb,comp cams nx264hr cam .544 lift with the rockers. 24# injs , 3.73 gears and exhaust. last year it weighed 3750 with full tank and me in it. It weighs around 3850+ with me now because i went from draglites to my 17" ROH wheels this added over 100# to the car. On 4/14/04 It ran 13.90 @ 100 on street tires 1.98 60 ft. I didnt launch I just revd it up to 1500 or so and took off ,I normal shifted it. I know with slicks and agressive driving I could hit low 13's.

Now to give my guesstimate I think with the parts he has listed, with good driving, and TRACTION, low 13's high 12's are there. Maybe more. There is a guy on 50tech whos Vert runs 11's NA.
