The thing is, tho, when everyone goes to back to buying the next day, the losses are recouped. Distribution may be whacked a bit, but the bottom line probably won't be hurt at all. Now, if everyone didn't drive that day....THAT would hurt the bottom line.

Yeah really, we are a nation addicted to petroleum. What I or any other American doesn't get on the 19th, I will either fill up on the 18th so I can make it past that day or wait until the 20th to fill up what I needed the previous day.

BTW, the white house has nearly jack crap to do with the gas problems. The only thing they can do is pump tax money (our money anyway) into the system to help relieve the problem a bit. Think if they just helped us with $.01 a gallon, do that times the number of gallons pumped in a day times the number of people that got gas - you know what i'm getting at. Bottom line: OPEC is a monopoly and they can do basically whatever the hell they want to since they believe it or not, control the world of developed nations!

I would love to do this too...but the things that have already been said are very true. If people just dont drive for like two or three days, then the companies might take a hit that the actually care about. especially a weekend driving protest. But if people just dont buy gas for a day it wont do jack! All those people who didnt buy gas on the 19th are jsut gonna buy more on the 20th, and the oil companies are going to jack up the gas prices on the 20th so they recover their losses from the 19th. Its a no win, and OPEC has us by the balls and there is basically nothing we can do about it except for government intervention and that wont happen, because most people in washington are advocating for cleaning transportation and they dont care if blue collar workers are paying 2.50 a gallon just to get to and from work everyday. This is not a problem that can be solved by a gas buying protest. We are still rediculously dependent on petroleum, and the only way OPEC might do something about prices is if people just dont drive for a couple days and just let them take a hit for about 20 billion that they will NEVER get back!!! organize that and i will gladly pass it on all over the place but this kinda thing just wont work. Sorry for the long post i am just venting because i also hate paying 2.25 a gallon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! later

The reality is people have jobs and need to drive, if your tank is low you will need gas to bring home food.

If everyone in US didn't buy gas though for a week or so straight, they would lose alot of money, enough money to make you almost as rich as bill gates.

Thats rediculous. It won't work. Hell I'll drive that day just because there won't be any traffic.

What we need to do is drill for oil in ANWR (Alaska National Wildlife Refuge). Its northern Alaska where NO ONE lives. Damn environmentalist are afraid that we are going to destory the planet. Its in commitee on Capitol Hill. If it were just passed we could drill ANWR and not depend on foreign countries for our oil supply. Gas would be back down to 88 cents a gallon just like it was back 5 years ago.

Its only going to go up from here if we depend on unreiliable foreign countries.

Here, let's just pay $ 3.50 a gallon, sure, keep the change!

I feel like I just called you all Chevy lovers or something. I never guessed I'd get such a negitive response! Great, if you all like paying top dollar for gas. Some of you all must have more $$$ than you need? Hey, i'd love to pay $3.50 gallon for 87, and sure, just keep the change, I've got lot's more where that came from. Oh Magooh. :damnit: The government DOES have control of fuel taxes, and that's where most of the money is going!

Man I'm all for doing something to change this sh?t, coz if something isn't done there just gonna keep raping us..but I just don't think one day of not buying gas would make any impact. Now maybe if everyone boycotted driving/ working for a day, I think that would have an effect on the economy.

The reason oil production is slowed down is so we dont use up all the gas in the world. Tell you what, if gas was 99 cents a gallon, I'd be driving twice as much. The truth is, at our current rate, the world WILL be out of oil in 30-40 years. So enjoy the combustion engine while you can.

oout of oil in 30-40 years?!?! that'd make me like 50 or 60  i wonder what they'll come up with for a car and what it will run off of. the hybrids still use gas. at 50 i'd be going through a midlife crisis and would want a fast car :(

I have to ask you a question...how in the name of all that is holy do you manage to breathe on your own?

That friggin email has been circulating since about 1994 or 1995, and maybe earlier than that.

Reality: gas prices are driven by supply and demand.
Reality: Demand is higher in the summer due to travel, and outpaces the supply of available fuel.
Reality: Simple economics dictates that the price will go up.
Reality: This has happened every summer that I can ever remember.
Reality: Some compugeek wrote this email trying to see how many times he could get someone to read it, circulate it, and post it on some website.

Face it, there is some fat, retarded Everquest geek that is laughing his fat pimply a$$ off at you right now.
