Guys with 18"s - need your opinions

I have been doing some research on getting the Bullitt Replicas.

I would get 18X9 up front and 18X10 out back.

What kind of tire sizes do you guys recommend? I am thinking 265/35/18 up front (I have read about tracking issues with the 275's) and 285/35/18 out the back. What do y'all think? What would be the maximum width I can go with the 10" rim? If anyone prefers having the 275's on fronts, your opinion would be appreciated. Thanks.

255's would be plenty of grip up front. My car has 255/35/18's up front
with 265/35's out back. I'm fixin to go BFG DR's 295/35 out back and I have 18x9's all the way around. :D
If I had 18x10 I would go 315's
I know a guy with 18x11 with 335's out back

You sure about those 255's up front? dont they look pretty narrow? A buddy of mine, just got an 01GT and he threw on the Cobra R 17X9's. Of course he got 275/40/17's on there and just dropped it with H&R SuperSports. I think it looks real nice. I almost leaning 275 in front.

You can go 275's up front but the car will track bad in ruts. I personally
wouldnt go wider than 265 up front. My 255's rub in full left lock. I dont know what suspension you have but 275-18's would probably rub. 255/35/18s
dont look narrow to me. But this is my opinion. I'll try to post a pic.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah dont want to track that bad. Thats why im thinking about the 265's up front. I have the Eibach Pro-Kit FYI. Stock shocks and springs (for now). I am thinking 285's out back, because i can still get the Nitto street tire on there. Maybe throw on the 295 DR's once i can get a second beater car and slap my car in a garage. What is the maximum size out back? Thats excluding the (runs wider than most) BF Goodrich DR.

I've got 245/40R18s in front and 285/35R18 in rear.

My '99 and '01 Formulas had 285's all the way around and they liked to follow ruts, etc. I had Firestone Firehawk SZ50's which ran small and were closer to the size of the OEM tires than the SZ50s in the 275 size.

Really? with the 245's. Is there a problem with rubbing with the 18" rims? And ill bet those 285's were about pulling your car off the road if you hit a rut. Can a bigger tire fit on the back? Dig your avatar by the way man :nice:

I have the saleen 18x9/ 18x10 option, and i have the 265/35 up front. Over time they started to rub pretty bad against my saleen sway bar. But i do quite a bit of autox and open track events. On the street they are fine. 295/35's outback are awesome. so much traction, just a bitch to manuever slowly.

No rubbing problems with my setup. I could have probably gone with 265/35s in the front, but the 245s look fine and do the job. You could also go with a 295 or 315 out back on your 10" wheels.

The whole key to getting everything right is making sure that your tires are close to the original tires diameter. Thats why I have 245/40s in front and 285/35s in rear. That way, my tires are no taller than the originals. Also, make sure the offset is correct on your wheels. Since you are getting Mustang-specific wheels, then you should be set.

Thanks Nick. I wasnt sure on that. I do remember seeing folks go 40 up front and 35 out back (sidewall height) to kinda balance it out. And yeah, im set on the Anthracite bullitts, just like my stock ones, but obviously 18 and a much fatter rear tire.

Im not sure, but im thinking wider than 285 out back and your pretty much running DR's from that point, that would kill me on my (for the time being) daily driver. I do wanna know what will fit. So like a Nitto DR in 315 would fit that 10" rim?

What kind of tires are you running?

265/35 front and 285/35 rear would be perfect. 295/35 out back has rubbing issues when you are lowered especially with bfg's. Just know that 285/35 will effect your speedo slightly

cool man. That is something I could have my SCT tuner programmed for though huh? Been thinking about getting another file to try out from them anyways :D

I run 275/35/18's up front and 295/35/18's in the back. I run the Toyo TS-1's, and for the first 100 miles or so I noticed some tracking issues. Now that they have broken in, I notice virtually no tracking whatsoever. The traction is really good (summer only tire, pretty good in the rain too). My car is not lowered, but I have zero rubbing issues. They look great too!
