Motor Trend says we lose to the vetee...just a little

Wow, I knew the cobra was heavy, but almost 3800 lbs.? Is that the weight of the convertible or are they giving coupe weight? I would assume that the comparison was between verts that was vert weight. How much do the coupes weigh, 200 lbs. less maybe?

I ran my car across the scales at my local dragstrip. With me and a full tank of gas my coupe weighed in at 3915 lbs.

U.M.

why in the world would you show up with a full tank? I feel like I'm giving away et showing up with a 1/3 tank. I usually like to hit the gate with reserve tank light flashing. :D

The engine block is steel except for the heads unlike all the other 4.6s which is the biggest change. That added to the other stuff mentioned above all add up. Still, this is my opinion but the Cobra really shouldn't be compared to the vett because it really isn't in the same class. The ss is what it should be compared to. Just my thoughts.

C&D blows too. They got an 03 vette to trap 101 in the 1/4! :notnice: :bs:

yes but do comparison it an 03 cobra with $18k in mods :)

Standard arguement but how many people actually have that extra $18k to put in the car? Most people I assume finance their cars so do they finance the other $18k for mods? That isn't smart in my opinion. I just think this is a stupid arguement. If I had 18k in cash, I would put it down on the car and have minimum car payments. Luckily of course, it doesn't cost too much to put our cars ahead of a standard Vette in a straight line.

For what it is worth, I do the same !

I always try to leave for the track w/ a full tank, and usually wind up starting the night w/ 7/8 tank, finishing around 3/4 tank.

Seemed to me like the added weight over the rears helped - even w/ the solid axle.
