I shift at 6000 honestly. I know I am not the best racer on earth and my car has only been to the track a couple times, but shiftin at 6 feels perfect. My times just arent good because my ET sucks on street tires.
I try to shift as close to 6k as I can, I've run a best of 13.6 w/stock gears. Have yet to race with my 4.10's Looking or a 13.3. Best way to find out is with a dyno tune to find out where you car makes max power, that is were you want to shift. Without a shift lite or aftermaker tach you really just need to try you best to estimate whenyou need to shift. Practice makes perfect...
Seems like it varies from car to car. Mine falls flat on it's face above 5700, so needless to say I shift right around there. Others can run to 6250 with no problems... Just all depends. Part of the art of drag racing is being a good enough driver to know when YOUR car performs at it's peak.

Shift between 5300-5500 anything above that and your losing horsepower. My car makes max HP 407@5300rpm. The best way to find your shift point is to dyno the car.
