heys guys i got 10 holes for my notch it came with the ugly ass hubcaps and the stock wheels were 14 by like 4 or some **** and i just asked my mechanic how much it would cost to mount and get new tires. I need 15 by 7 tires and he said that the tires would throw off the car or something and make my check engine light coome on and stay on is this correct my car is an 87 notch.

umm...i don't know about that. Just make sure you get the right size tire. If you look on your door jamb, there should be a sticker with a listing of different tire sizes that the stangs came with stock. Look at the one for 15".

Oh, and go to a different mechanic next time :)

The mechanic wanted you to bust out and laugh in his face. That was his "Is this guy a dweeb test?". Or he's a moron. Either way, somebody failed.

Go get your tires mounted and installed by someone else.

Your mechanic is an idiot. Don't listen to him. Usually a P225/70/R15 is what is recommended for those 10 hole wheels. I think you might be able to fit slightly wider tires than that though. I don't think 235's are out of the question.

Ouch, no 225/70R15's would be way too big! Those would rub all over the place in the front when you turned, not to mention you'd get mushy handling from using them. Go with 225/60R15's instead, that's what the stock size was as crovax mentioned.

I am using Turbo coupe wheels on mine with 10 hole center caps to replace the bird emblem. I have no check engine light either. He was

I like answer C dip****. Oh by the way my stang convert had 14" hubcaps as well. Tell you what they make a great winter wheel.

in 93, they came with 205/65r15's. I have had 235/65's, but I like my 215/60/s better, gives it the widest tire that will fit safely. It also has no effect on the speedometere either. Even Wal-Mart can tell you this, haha
