How can they do this?

How can they start delivering multiple cars to dealers nationwide to be sold when there are thousands of us who have already ordered cars and put down deposits weeks or even months before now? I can understand delivering 1 or 2 cars to a dealarship for show purposes only, but it seems unethical to give a dealer a truckload of cars to sell when their advanced orders have not been fulfilled.

Or you don't talk about price before your car gets there.

It might even be the case the dealer ordered a couple for themselves when the order bank opened and those got sent to the line first. How would you feel if you saw five at a dealer but couldn't touch them cause they were already sold?

fr96ss- Why would I cancel my deal at invoice-plus-2% to wait for one to come on a truck?

37ford- Anyhow, if a dealer is getting stock before you get your order, so be it. It's a relationship between you and the dealer. Did you order yours in May? The dealer PROBABLY DID and he's been waiting just as long for them as you. Some dealers are prioritizing customer orders, some are prioritizing dealer-stock.

I ordered mine in July, it will be over 3 months of waiting until mine comes early in November.

Patience grasshopper...

No, I don't have a VIN #. That one thing I wanted to ask. Have you gotten anything in the mail concerning that? I ordered mine the first week of September and haven't heard anything since. I figured they would at least have given me a VIN by now.

I'm being patient. I just don't want some Joe Blow who just walked up to the dealer to be driving one before me.

37ford-

Like I said, I orderd my '05 on July 22nd, and didn't get a VIN until Oct 9th. Some people ordered in June and had a VIN in July.

What you need to ensure is that you have a DORA number, and that your dealer can fax you a Status on that DORA. Lack of a DORA means that you have no proof that your order has been submitted.

Try and get a fax of the Status Report. It shows all the cars he has on order, he should be able to fax the page with your DORA. It should have your last name next to your order. Or he can fax over the Detail Status Report which is the same information, but only one page per vehicle, in a bit more readable format.

- you won't get anything in the mail unless your dealer decides to do it for the sake of doing it. Ford doesn't send out status.... talk to your dealer, have him fax a status, or swing by and pick one up.

So, what you're saying is that you ordered your '05 before the dealership ordered their '05 inventory? I doubt it!

Cars on dealer's lots generate foot traffic. Foot traffic generates sales. You ordered. They know they are getting your money. Ford is counting on the Mustang having a significant impact on sales. So they are going to load up dealers first, while inter-mixing ordered cars in the production schedule.

I am as impatient as any of the rest of us, that my car is not here even though it was built9/08. However i believe that once the cars leave the plant most direct control Ford might have/plans/whatever, goes out the window into the rail yards and trucking contractors. It's frustrating but I ran into this with previous cars. It does seem that with todays technology, better tracking could be introduced. This willy nilly shipping pattern IS driving people nuts :notnice:
