To Motor Swap Or Not To Motor Swap

I have a 2000 Mustang GT with Full Length Headers, Shorty x-pipe, Flowmaster Catback, BBK cool air intake, BBK 75mm Throtle Body, BBK underdrive Pullies, and BBK Chrome V/Cs. In this coming spring I am/was planning to add a Procharge to this list of modifications and making hopfuly 390hp, but now I'm wondering if I shouldn't just buy an 03 DOHC with a factory blower with 0 miles on it from a magazine......... I believe it also comes with the computer needed as well as a T56 (For some extra cash). Any sugestions??

By the time your done with everything it will be 2-3 times as much money as buying any of the well known supercharger brands. You can easily get a vortech S/C kit for under 3100 or so complete and ready to go or the procharger you mentioned for a bit more with intercooler and all. Depends on how many miles you ahve on your car and how much that milage is worth to you. :nice:

Like the others stated. In this case it would be cheaper to build, that to buy. Not to mention you'll be able to use a all of your existing parts with the SOHC combo. Going to the DOHC Cobra engine will require you to replace the Headers, X-pipe, Catback, CAI, Throtle Body, Pulleys, and valve covers you've just spent a pile of money on already.

You shouldnt have to buy a new X pipe, and definatly not a new catback, just headers on the exhaust side....but 03 DOHC motors have SOOO much power potential with heads that flow like 266CFM stock. But IMO the complete 03 cobra engine is not worth the 12K price that karkraft puts on it...I have decided to wait till 100K, then I will pull the SOHC and slap in a built aluminum 01 cobra block, with 03+ DOHC heads, 01 cobra intake, and Procharger P1SC (for the lowend grunt...D1SC makes a LOT less low end torque) pushing around 8 PSI....should last a LONG time and meet my desired power of around 450 to the wheels.Just takes a BUNCH of cash, figued I would spend close to 10K for the engine, and drivetrain upgrades...and thats with us(me and my pop) doing almost ALL the work, -the short block. If you payed someone, it would not be worth it...man thats a bunch...10K :nonono: Hope I am rich by then LOL.
