The SN65 project car

skywalker, I didn't miss that part because it doesn't exsist, the 03 is not wrecked as stated by the builder.

67 GT500 and an 07 GT500 would be a sweet combination,

Yeah, but since you just joined and found the thread, you missed 3 months of posts and pics that were made and lost in the "Great StangNet Server Crash of '05". Unfortunately, that DID exist. :(

Not to be rude or anything but WTF is the point of your post, what are you trying to get to, or what are your trying to say. Pointless post :OT:

the mustang is looking good, its not yet done but still looks mean and aggressive

Read what he said again - stanget had a server crash. 3 months of this thread were lost - like 12 pages. Discussion about the state of the cars was lost. It DID exist.

Can I stand on neutral ground and request that we not clutter this outstanding technical thread with off-topic, non-technical discussion that really doesn't matter anyway?

Back on subject, Bob, I've been following this project since day one (before the crash) and I'm in total amazement. Hats off to you and your crew for your efforts. I don't know what class it falls in, but it's sure not your average restomod.

That picture of it on all-fours is just awesome. How close are you to a shot of it with fenders? Have you got a final plan for the hood yet?

Once again, great work! I can't wait to see it in person. :flag:

I read what he said, it doesn't make sense what existed the "'03 with a completely wrecked body, but workable frame.", both of your are not making sense just posting without reading and then blaming your crap on me,

The 03 was real nice. Slightly used (about 5K). There were some signs of abuse when we got the chassis stripped, but nothing we couldn't handle.

Please read before you argue about something pointless, so now what did i miss?
the stanget server crash, i read that part but thats irrelevant because that has nothing to do with the my first post, what is he trying to say, i know there was a server crash, did it say in the server crash that the 03 mustang was wrecked i doubt that because SN65 just said it was in good condition

1320stang, NasaGT youve just been :owned:

NEXT who wants a piece of me :rlaugh:
-------

by the way i totally agree with eleanor_350, please don't "clutter this outstanding technical thread with off-topic" comments that don't even make sense,

Owned by a noob? not likely. I never said the '03 was crashed. The quote was only to let you know that I was informing you that you missed a lot and that I felt you were being a little rude yourself. Look at my history of posts, do you think I go around yanking people's chains?

Hey, I made a mistake in my understanding about the '03 (that was a long damned time ago and my life has been a little bit busier than most folks lately, juuuust damn.) 1320 is right though, you were a lil bit of an ass there. Owned? Not hardly.

On topic, what I'm trying to say is, you missed some great stuff. See the sad face at the end? Reread my post, there's no malice in it at all. If you take it that way, your pretty thin skinned.
Hi 1320,

Don't remind me. :-(

We lost a lot of good data. Some of the debates over the trunk lock and the quarter mounted gas filler neck (as well as many other conversations) were priceless. At the time of the "crash" we were at 42,000 views and 630 posts. If that had continued to today, we would now be at 64,000 views and 865 posts.

Sigh.....

I guess we will do better on the next build. :)

Catch ya'll l8r.

Bob, wasnt' there still a warranty on the 03 Cobra you dismantled for this project?

And I'd love to see pics of the hood, I think the other pics with the hood ideas got lost with some of the other good pics of the car.
Hi S2M,

Actually, there still is. :rlaugh:

I plan on taking in to ford for warantee replacement of the drivers side head as soon as I get it on the road. I will walk up to the service counter and tell them that it was a Ford prototype for the new 05 stang.

I wonder how long I will be able to keep a straight face.

Nice i wanna see the look on there faces eeheheheh :rlaugh:

1320stang, don't take it personally "Owned by a noob?" people do make mistakes you get over it.

skywalker, "I made a mistake in my understanding about the '03" same thing people do make mistakes you get over it.
--------

now i didn't want to argue with you guys or clutter this wonderfull thread but i had to, you guys jumped to conclusions based on nothing, attack me with comments that were completely irrelevant and that didn't make sense to my post, so you left me no choice but to defend my self, no hard feelings
why did skywalker, have to comment on something he is not sure of, that started all the commotion,

"I think you missed the part about it being a '65 body with an un-usable frame and an '03 with a completely wrecked body, but workable frame." - skywalker

Well if your not sure don't post it, i said i read 90% of the existing thread so i probably remember more than you do right now since I read the thread recently, like u said "(that was a long damned time ago and my life has been a little bit busier than most folks lately, juuuust damn.) " so you probably forgot alot of details so please next time don't comment if your not sure, just because im a "noob" as you said you doen’t make me dumb and you smart, which we basically found out

Im ready to put all this behind me because truely this is not worth arguing about, because we have a great thread with an amazing project so lets concentrate on that, try not to correct other people when your not sure.

No hard feeling i hope, I wasn’t trying to be an ass I just had to make everything clear, like I said no hard feelings

Okay, since you say your ready to drop it, yet you keep making disparaging remarks (noob is short for new guy, not exactly belittling, more abreviating than anything, everyone's a noob once), I for one am stopping it after this with you.

I didn't make a mistake, although you may have. I hope you came on here knowing more than most of us and are prepared to offer sound, proven advice based on your extensive experiences. If your looking for advice on things with your initial attidute, good luck on getting some. Not a threat, just fact. Been here a long time and have seen it many times (and on other boards as well). Matter of fact, I know of one guy that joined a board that was a real a$$. He got banned, rejoined about 6 months later with a different attitude and a different login and we had no idea it was the same guy. After a while, he revealed himself and got some good natured ribbing, which he took well, but we've all got along famously since then.

I never "jumped you" about anything, if anything could be construed as jumping, it might be your condescending attitude.

Would love to put all this behind me, although I can't see what I said that "got it in front of me". I guess we'll see how it goes, huh?

I agree with 2000BLKGT ..

It´s been an awesome thread... How can anybody go thru such trouble documenting this? I build a 66 of a scrach but still...

Take the pissing contest elsewhere (private msg?)

Go SN65 Love to read this thread!!!!

SNIP...
Hi All,

Darren over at Corner Carvers has solved this riddle. This is the rear window defroster feed.

Thank you Darren.

Only the two prong grey drivers side connector to resolve and the electrical will be complete.

Hi Bob, Few posts back someone referred to the Falcon dash in my 66. Here's a pic.

It was cut in 3 places and plastic welded then covered in vinyl using a vacuum process. It is how they cover dashes when first manufactured. In Australia we have 'dashboard restoration' companies which have the machines to do this. Am sure you have them as well.

The final job cannot be faulted - it is a 'new' dash.

Keep up thegreat work.

Hi All,

Yesterday we installed the oil filter relocation housing. Because space was a bit on the tight side, we had to be a little creative in our approach.

As you most likely recall (from previous episodes), we could not use the Cobra oil filter casting with integral oil cooling jacket because of interferance with the relocated steering rack (7" forward). To solve this problem we ditched the stock Cobra casting and replaced it with the typical 4.6 (sans oil cooler) casting. In order for that to work, we had to have the castings radiator connection (see photo) altered from the standard 90 degree configuration to a straight neck.

attachment.php

This was all fine and good until we received the oil filter relocation kit and the item (item #1) that was supposed to bolt up to the oil filter casting was about 1/2" to thick to clear the rag joint on the steering linkage.

AAAUUUGGG!!!!

Not to be deterred, we started evaluating our alternatives, and since we felt running without a filter was not an option, we came up with the following game plan. The item designed to fit to the block (item #1) did not have enough meat on it to allow for modification. As we looked at all the parts we had to work with, we noticed that the remote housing (the one designed to mount the remote 5.0 oil filter, now known as item #2) was 1/2" shorter, narrower, thinner than item #1. To make item #2 function properly was fairly easy. First we had the mating surface machined with a groove to accept the oil filter gasket. Then we machined off the now useless mounting ears. Then we removed the threaded nipple (from item #2) that received the 5.0 oil filter and had that hole bored and threaded so that it would screw on to the engine just as a oil filter would.

attachment.php

Now it sounds like that should solve all our problems, but...

When we threaded item #2 onto the block, we found that, when tight, we needed about another 300 degrees of rotation. To gain this additional 300 degrees, we had to remove about 1/32" of material from the rubber gasket. To do this only required about 2 hours of sanding, fitting, sanding, fitting, sanding, fitting, etc....

In order to sand the gasket, Wayne used item #1 to mount the gasket and slowly sanded the surface over and over again until we removed just the right amount of material.

With all that said, here is the device mounted in the car. We now all we have to do is locate the in line oil cooler and remote filter housing and we are finished. Well, finished with this item anyway. Only another 100 or so to finish this month.

OK, it is now 7:30 AM, Time to make some coffee and get back to work.

Catch ya'll l8r.
