I dont know whats going on I noticed when I returned from my trip that my temp guage gets in between the r and m on normal, before the trip it would stay below the n, what can I do or check? any help would be appreciated.

I would use a real gauge, so you have an actual point of reference.

When and how does it run hotter? On the highway only? In town only? At all times? Any other gauges reading strange? Etc.

Good luck.

Jose,

Under normal operating conditions your temp gauge should be pointing straight up, which is usually right where you are describing... between the R and the M.

So, IMHO there is nothing wrong with your cooling system if that's where your temp gauge reads after the engine is warmed up.

Why your gauge read below the N before your trip is a mystery to me. I would say that your gauge was not working at all if it was reading below the N on a warmed up engine. Maybe there was a temporary or intermittent contact somewhere in the circuit or the gauge which caused it not to work.

At any rate, a temp gauge that reads in the R to M range on a warmed up engine is just fine.

I figured it would be ok, rulesr I cheked and the fluid is full. It gets there all the time now, so where on the guage indicates that its getting too hot, a-l- or past l. Im getting guages for the car its just gunna take some time, I only work as a part time bouncer 3 nights a week so thats not alote of spending money.

Your thermostat has probably been stuck open for quite a while and when you went on an extended trip it "unstuck" itself some how and now it is operating correctly. I would say change your thermostat just in case it decides to stick closed.
