Torn on which hood to go with...

Okay, this might be another throw-away post, but here goes:

I'm finishing up the body mods for my 05 SEMA project. The mechanical mods are going on over the next few weeks (14" Wilwoods from Precision Brakes, tires, wheels, ProCharger, etc.) but I need to cap the body mods off with a custom hood.

For the longest time I was going to go with the Steeda cowl hood. I love the design, but then I saw the CDC shaker installed with a ProCharger and that made me stop and think. I also like the California Dream hood too...

I am going for a modern look, using the Street Scene kit and a modern paint scheme, so I don't wanna contradict that theme. Any ideas?

Thanks guys!
Kris

HAHA I'll complicate your life Kris by saying, "How about the Saleen hood?" :D

But if I'd have to chose out of those you listed, I'd say California Dream. (I'm a sucker for holes in the hood, what can I say? )

We looked at all the hoods available for the Stang and went with the RK Sport CD hood. We love it... :nice:

Looks great :nice: . I have had mine since June, but I have yet to get it painted and installed. I am hopeing to get it done in the beginning of October, but we will see, lol.

Hood Types:

Cowl Induction = GM signature piece so no good on a Ford
Shaker = Old school Ford so it prob doesn't go with a modern look so much
Saleen = this looks nice with air extractors for a nice modern race look
RKSport = kinda reminds me of an 1970 Oldsmobile 442 hood, looks ok but something about it just rubs me the wrong way
Steeda = See cowl induction above

I guess my choice for an off the shelf item would be the Saleen hood at this point.

I like the look of the Saleen as a package, much better than stock IMO. Also, I'm assuming the Saleen's air extractors are functional, which is a plus for your supercharger... for me, that alone would be the deciding factor.

You could also go for a GT500 look, but I don't know if a similar aftermarket GT500 hood is available yet or if it would fit. Tell the Procharger folks that you're replacing the hood and see what they think would work best.

I must agree with Pony on this one Kris! I think this particular hood will look good in your situation.. The front of the car will look exceptional with your imagination working its effect into it..

The Saleen Hood is not good for you.. I predict that in the near future, there will be a Mustang sanctioned from ford with your name on it.. Kind of like Shelby.. So lets see... The Horton GT Mustang.. Put an emblem in the back of the car like Shelby for the SEMA show.. Big letters.. H O R T O N...

In 10 years, the argument will be whats more valuable.. Superchargerd Horton Stangs, with Supercharged Axle twisting 1000 HP engines, or a 450HP Shelby! LOL!! :D

You must get the Horton emblems made for the SEMA show for sure! :nice:

I just went over to California Mustang and checked out the California Dream hood. VERY NICE. I think I may end up going with that one. Thanks for all the input folks, I appreciate it!
