clutch/tranny problems

im not sure if this is the tranny or the clutch, or the clutch cable, so maybe u guys can help me out. my buddy was driving his 95 cobra, came around a corner in 3rd, slammed it into 2nd(aggressively, says he kicked the clutch hard and fast) romped on it, went to shift into 3rd, and the car wouldnt go into gear. he calls me asking what was wrong, so i told him to drive it to my house if he could, but he had to get the car towed to a some clutch shop. he got the car bake the next morning, supposedly fixed, and they said it should be good. he calls me and says the clutch pedal was way softer than it used to be. he was driving later that day when it stopped going into gear, and he somehow made it to my house. so it will go into gear when the car is off, but once you start it and put the clutch pedal to the floor, it wont go into gear no matter how hard you push. anyone have an idea what it is?:bang:

yeah, freeplay. At this point, it is really on the shop if it does not work (he had it fixed there, right?). He should take it back.
Also knowing what it is that they did would help.

It sounds like either the cable is still misadjusted, the pawl stripped or the PP lost is strength.

Good luck.
