91 tune vs 93 tune?

i have a 91 tune on the car now but if i up that to the 93 tune and i dont have access to 93 octane fuel is that a problem or will it even do aything performance wise to the car

You will get detonation which can ruin you motor. If 91 is all you can get then use that tune

You can use the 93 octane tune with 91 octane fuel if you add some octane booster.

ok let me explain something about the new mustang and the new engine managment.

it has a VERY sensative and acurate knock sensor..

it would be very hard for you to hurt the motor naturaly aspirated even with a 93 octane tune and sticking in 87 octane and going out and hammering it I doubt you would even hear any detonation...

the knock sensors will pick up the inaudible detonation long before you hear it and then pull the timeing out until it goes away..

is it a good idea ? no.
but will you seriously injure your car.

only if whoever wrote the 93 octane tune limited how much the knock sensors can pull out or stoped them from pulling any out at all.

I use a 91 octane tune in CA.

91 octane is the highest octane i've seen here.

Really? Here in Michigan, you can buy 105 octane (Turbo Blue) from some BP gas stations! They also have 87,89, and 93.

if you want to get technical, i can buy 100 and 110 from the gas station down the street from me, but 91 is the premium at the pump.

That is funny, with my 06 GT after I installed the 91 octane tune and run 91 octane gas, I get pinging. It only happens occasionally, and between 3000-6500rpms. If the knock sensor is so sensitive, why am I hearing detonation? Possibly a bad one I suppose, but you would think it would trip an MIL.
