Hey guys heres my dilemma-
I have been battling my 2001 cobra's check engine light for the last several months. I am getting a P0174 code which is "System Too Lean, Bank 2". This is the only code I am getting (I know, its strange). I have added a new fuel filter and the code came back. Sprayed off my MAF sensor, so its OK. The guy at Autozone said its my front oxygen sensor that needs to be replaced. I kinda doubt it though. I hear this code can mean lots of things but all i see is others getting it with the bank 1 code. What the heck can only cause bank 2 to be lean??? Help Im so confused.. Thanks a bunch guys.

A "slow" O2 would give this code also. Swap the sensor on bank 1 to two and 2 to 1 and see if the code switches to bank 1. That would give you a definative answer or you could test the circuit with a voltmeter to see if the voltage is correct. I'm not sure what the range should be so you may have to search a little...my Haynes is missing so I don't have the values available. If the sensor is bad, I'd change out both bank 1 and 2 upsteam sensors just to be safe.

Thanks guys. I've already bought an 02 sensor from autozone but havent put it on yet. Is it more than likely the front sensor on bank 2? If i put that thing on and the light comes back on im gonna be pissed (plus 50 bucks in the hole). Also, I've heard you have to have a special "tool" for putting on the 02s. I thought you could just use a socket wrench... anybody know?

hey man-
turns out it wasnt the 02 sensor at all.... it was my damn c&l mass air meter. i put the stock meter back on, and whaddya know? NO MORE CODE!

thanks man, were you getting pretty bad gas mileage too? IM getting horrible.. also, C&L MASS AIR METER, thats the MAF correct, by the air filter, sorry not too smart with vehicles.

thanks

c&l meters...ugh. i had one on my 01 and sold that bish quick. my car would stall when i put the clutch in and ran like crap. I had a pro-m on my cobra when i bought it and swapped back to a stocker, car ran better at the track and idles better too

thanks man... Just got my car out the shop it was one of the front o2 sensors, one wire had rubbed off from being to close to the tranny... cost me 150 dlls. but looks like its fixed now. Iwas getting 14 to 16 at best mpg.... I just tested my mpg, and got 23 half hwy, half street, so im happy....:SNSign:

thanks
